I agree. People don't realize how bad things were in the winter. And while we had reduced capacity for many things, we did not "lockdown". That is never going to happen again.

Bigger question: Will the OP come back in 3-4 weeks and give credit to the Governor if he doesn’t put any further restrictions in place?

He won’t shut anything down per se, but will severely limit the number of people in buildings , bars, restaurants , public events , etc. you can book it that no later than 8/1 there will be a mask mandate in place.
Personal responsibility simplify doesn’t exist any longer in this country. There is an excuse for everything from criminal behavior and rioting to “peope can’t take care of their own health so we will do it for them “. My grandparents survive a flu pandemic , depression and world war by taking accountability for themselves and their dependents. They are rolling over in their graves laghing at us.

Why would he deserve or warrant credit for not enacting poorly reasoned and ineffective policy?

I can certainly see masks coming back for those who aren't vaccinated, and private businesses requiring proof of vaccine before entering.
This will definitely be a war against the unvaccinated, and much like France and England, a digital passport is all but certain to appear here.
There won't be shut downs again though. Even he knows the end result of that would be close to societal collapse.
