Disturbing convo with Navy Sailor today

Sonce I am in San Diego for a bit I've been forced to live like a local and do things like go to Starbucks when I want a coffee. Definitely not my first choice, but it is what it is.
While in line today, I noticed a young Third Class in front of me in her Navy ODU's. What stuck out to me is that her American flag was missing from the designated spot on her sleeve. When I asked about it, she looked at me with the most attitude she could, and said "Why would I wear the flag I don't respect?" I was flabbergasted.
Keep in mind, she says this to me while I'm wearing my Coast Guard ODUs.
Is this really who is in our military now? Being in a small service I haven't seen anything like this.
**Update** Shoulder patches om Type III unforms are optional. So she was not out of uniform.

I hope she was bogus, but my gut tells me service people are as politically divided as average citizens. America can’t count on them speaking with one voice in a crunch.

This started when the whole kneeling for the anthem/flag thing started. A handful of high profile soldiers said they saw no problem with it, and the floodgates opened. And now here we are.

She could tell I was pissed. But an asschewing from a Coastie probably isn't going to get much of a reaction. The scary part is her command probably knows and has said nothing.
