The thought is that A&M should be the best because they have more $$$ and are in Texas, possibly the best recruiting hotbed in the country. But LSU spends just as much on its program, has a better tradition of winning and is in a recruiting hotbed as well. And unlike A&M, LSU is clearly the top school for their home state's recruits where A&M may be third behind Texas and even Oklahoma.

Yes. We’re all screwed if A&M legit puts their eggs all in their football basket and really plays to their full potential. They’d be more on Georgia’s level talent wise. Doesn’t necessarily mean they automatically own Alabama and LSU but it would make us all take them more seriously.
