The first movie tried to take itself too seriously, this one did not which is why is why it was so successful. Just a funny movie with a lot of gore, but the scene where it showed Flag getting his heart sliced in 2 just made me clutch my chest. I didn't like that one at all. Lol

Watched the movie today. Probably 4-5 folks in the theatre. Which is unfortunate. It was a pretty decent movie. No, not fantastic, but I enjoyed it.

I'll admit, when it comes to 'comic book hero ' movies, I tend ( or have ) to lean more towards Marvel. So I wasn't as up to speed with the characters here as I was for most MCU movies. Still, in comparison to the other Suicide Squad flick, I liked this one better. The shark guy was better than the croc guy. It was over the top in some areas, but in a self deprecating sort of way too. The humor was clever at times, but never outright hi-larious.

Harley Quinn was as she should be. Amazing, crazy, but not the central character of the movie. Probably her best appearance yet.

I wish Bloodsport's story line wasn't Deadshot 2.0, ( doing it for his little girl ) but damn, Idris Elba did deliver.

Seriously, how many insanely talented marksmen are there in the DCUE ?

Also...Daniela Melchior. Yes,please.

My thought is that if they had cast Elba as dead shot in the first, he would have reprised that role in the second. Would have been a much better option than Smith

He was supposed to be deadshot but apparently Will Smith may come back someday, so they rewrote the character to bloodsport.

John Cena and Idris Elba delivered

Her not dominating screen time is what made this movie more enjoyable for me. I haven't finished "Birds of Prey" yet

In related news...

quote:

In what doesn’t come as shocking news, AMC Entertainment chairman and CEO Adam Aron said Monday that the No. 1 theater chain has inked a deal with Warner Bros, ensuring a 45-day theatrical window for the studio’s releases in 2022. Warners previously hammered out a 45-day theatrical window with No. 2 circuit Cineworld, and its U.S. counterpart Regal, earlier this year as the Burbank, CA studio was slammed by the industry and talent reps for its day-and-date theatrical-HBO Max streaming model.

The news came in a flurry of announcement by Aron during a call after AMC released second-quarter earnings, including the chain picking up eight older Arclight Cinemas leases, three of which are in L.A. (two of them — The Grove in LA and The Americana at Brand in Glendale — we already knew about).

“We’re especially pleased that Warners has has decided to move away from day-and-date releases and commit to theatrical windows as well,” said Aron. “We’re having conversations with other movie studios in Hollywood.”

According to Elba, he was only ever going to be Bloodsport.

I started the movie to try and gain some insight into Harley Quinn but I just couldn't do it. I feel better now for having turned it off.

This so much. When she was on screen it was good stuff. Like the psycho Widow sequence. And then the payoff for the jokes as they went to break in the apartments for her. Or the playing her off Boomer and Javelin and Flag and Polka and Bloodsport for different types of jokes.

Go watch it in theaters, preferably Imax if you're near one. I had a fun time with it.

Saw it in imax last night, def the best DC movie I’ve seen since Shazam. I thought the team was fun and has good chemistry. I was surprised at how many characters were initially annihilated but I guess in hindsight I could see that coming from the trailers.

Speaking of trailers, all the best jokes were in them which caused the movie to feel a bit flat comedically. But it was still filled with a lot of fun moments and interactions.

But as Gunn recently told THR, he likes making big movies, and whether you watched The Suicide Squad at home or in theaters, the film, shot in IMAX, definitely feels like a big movie. So, on the bigger side of things, not that Gunn couldn’t make an amazing $200 million Blue Devil movie, because he definitely could, there could certainly be more Harley Quinn in his future. There have been rumblings of a Gotham City Sirens film since Suicide Squad (2016). David Ayer was originally set to do it, and after Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) there was online buzz about Cathy Yan taking on the project. But Gunn may be the one to actually bring it to fruition. In that same chat with THR, Gunn said that he felt he had a knack for writing Harley Quinn and that Margot Robbie was his favorite actress he’s worked with. Robbie expressed similar enthusiasm for Gunn at the premiere. Another team-up between the two seems like the natural answer.

Gotham City Sirens, created by Paul Dini and Guillem March, features Harley, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman, who with the help of the Riddler, take on Hush. Although Catwoman and the Riddler will be appearing in non-DCEU film The Batman, portrayed by Zoe Kravitz and Paul Dano respectively, the multiverse would allow for other iterations of those characters to appear within the DCEU. Fans have been waiting a long time to see Harley and Ivy’s romance on screen, and Gunn, so adept at telling unexpected love stories, could be the director for the job.
