Well let’s put it this way.
If a man of generally average intelligence and ability asked me “what is my most likely path to a career making in excess of $350,000 I would tell him personal injury law.” Get the cheapest law degree you can find in the state you want to live, find a low paying entry job with any decent plaintiff shop that will hire you and go from there.
The odds are you will fail to reach that level, but it’s a much more accessible wealth path to people than becoming a doctor or an accounting partner.

Odds increase if you can find ways to market to various minority demographics not represented in the local population.
Like Vietnamese or like places in Texas “Si Habla Espanol” that you won’t see in Nebraska as much.

I wouldnt say financial advisor is on the end of easiest jobs. Getting all of the licenses is a good barrier to entry. Prying money out of other peoples hands is tough as well.
That said, there are several jobs built in with a huge hedge/advantage of higher income with inflation.
As home prices rise, realtors and mortgage brokers get built in raises on commissions.
As the market rises, financial planners get built in raises.
As the world collapses, insurance sales gets built in raises on commissions.
Anyone whose margins are based on items which naturally inflate at high rates are getting built in raises.

I know/knew her. Kind of a dumb thing for her to say, but again, she’s talking to a lay person. And probably old and senile by now.

There is a definitive answer for this, and most people don’t know this position exists: being the white guy on the board of a Chinese company. You do absolutely nothing, you just show up for pictures, and make 150K a year (equivalent to like 400K here) and get shitfaced in the Orient. It’s the easiest job ever. There’s no way you can get fired from it. There are hundreds of Hunter Bidens over in China doing this as we speak.

That’s a great point. Realtors doing the same work in 2021 that the did on 2019 are enjoying a pretty significant raise - assuming you can call what a realtor does work. Realtor’s ability to safe guard their commission rate in a world where everyone has access to the same listing information is an impressive feat. Technology has eliminated one of the main services a realtor used to perform and yet commissions largely remain the same.

Im in insurance sales.
Im currently writing 400 policies a year to make $200k.
But when georgia had a huge spike in rates with young (under 25) drivers, reaching $200k got a lot easier.

There were still plenty of female pilots before the early 70s and they got paid for their work. There was over 1,000 female pilots in WW2.

As far as US positions are concerned being your company’s rep for Wal-Mart in NW Arkansas is an extremely easy gig. So a few decades back Wal-Mart had the genius idea that if your company was of a certain size, you needed to have a rep living in Arkansas within 30 miles of their HQ of Bentonville in order to sell products in their store. This just blew up NW Arkansas’ local economy since all these organizations would just hire some random guy or chick to basically move there and do almost nothing.
You don’t do diddly dick for 95% of the year and just sit around and if Wal-Mart summons you or your company wants you to go talk with Wal-Mart and even when that happens someone higher up in the company is going to fly in to help you out and make sure you don’t frick this up. A very sizable portion of the population of NW Arkansas just get drunk all the time on their company’s and Wal-Mart’s dime and basically be a seat filler.
EDIT: And I don’t think I’m being hyperbolic here, but one of the questions they ask you getting this softball position is “What is you golf handicap?” Seriously, you’re just expected to play golf with these Wal-Mart executives, and whenever something of actual importance is on the table, they send in people from corporate that actually know what they’re talking about. It’s the most relaxed job in the country with great pay that anyone can get so long as you’re open to live in Fayetteville, which is a nice place to live.

Im in a unique model. Not sure how long it will stay around.
Sales is 10% new business.
1% renewal.
Pretty solid bonus structure on both.
Base pay, overtime, matching 401k, pension, health insurance, and no overhead.
I dont own my book. But i get about $60k in unearned benefits/comp per year. Pretty much for showing up.

Legit answer: quality assurance for a manufacturing company. The only legit thing of value they do is analytic data reviews and they use programs for that.
