You never see personal advertisements on uniforms in any pro league. (Don’t bring NASCAR into this)

Those are team advertisements

LSU has team advertisement and doesn’t put them on the uniform (besides Nike) also there is nothing that I know of Stopping schools from doing this if they wanted to.

The point being Drew Brees couldn’t slap an Advocate or Nyquil logo on his fricking Jersey.

This is correct, Boosters will buy recruits legally now so you know it will get out of hand.

Why are people acting like athletes have never gotten endorsements before? I know it’s new to college but it’s not new in general. Did Payton Manning play with a Nationwide patch on his uniform? Does Pat Mahomes have a head and shoulders patch?

I don’t disagree but it is in the team’s control and not the players so it has very little to do with NIL.

it's coming. The NIL has opened the door. The college game will never be the same. Sad day.

Again, the NIL didn’t open the door.

LSU always could put sponsor logos on their jerseys like pro soccer or the NBA, they choose not to. People keep bringing up examples of TEAMS agreeing to put sponsors on their uniforms.

The NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB and all the pro soccer leagues don’t allow individual players to pick the advertising on their jersey.

The NHL has sponsor ads with logos on helmets. I agree it’s eventually coming to the colleges soon. $$$$$ ultimately wins out

The problem is when a pro athlete enters into a deal with an advertiser they don’t like it’s easy to back out of it because they have a salary to fall back on. College players will be at the mercy of these companies and that’s where their loyalty will be, not to LSU or the team.

Sports will end up being taken away from schools. Agents, players and sports leagues will end up controlling it because now money can be made without the need of college athletics. These groups will control where players sign and ultimately if and when they transfer. Basically, paid free agency is now in college sports. If the sports spin off and affiliate with the leagues, why do they need universities?

Schools could have done this all along. NIL just means a player can get paid for being in a Cane's or Walk On's commercial.
