I've been enjoying the comradery of complaining about irrational s/o's so here is a Friday addition.

My s/o volunteered herself to be in Nola today to work for a client of hers. This certain task is completely outside the scope of her normal job and the first time she's ever done anything like this. The client paid for a hotel for us tonight in exchange for the help.

I just started a new job and she knows this, but has asked me to drive 3.5 hrs tonight to meet her. I don't want to bail early so, this puts me there at around 9:30-10pm. She doesn't want to go out bc she has to do the job again tomorrow until noon, so I will get there and go to sleep. Tomorrow, she will be working until noon then wants to get lunch and drive straight back home.

Someone explain to me how this is reasonable? I would never ask her to do this bc its absolutely ridiculous. I told her that and proceeded to get yelled at for an hour then silent treatment for the rest of the night.

oh, its her Bday tomorrow, so my arse will be there, but still. 3.5 hour drive tonight, arrive at 9:30-10pm, go to sleep, wake up and kill all morning alone while she works, eat lunch then make the 3.5 drive back home. She could have easily told the client no and it would have been a huge nothing burger, yet here we are.

eta: My phones been blowing up all day from her bitching about how miserable she is doing said job.

Because if you don't, someone else is gonna put it in her arse.

Also, pics? We have rules.

This.

Pick out a place you'll at least be excited about. Only way to salvage the trip.

That actually sounds kind of fun to me. It would delay my Friday evening scotch tasting, but so it goes.

This is outside the scope of her normal arrangement, so the client offered to pay for hotel room to get her to do it (on top of normal pay arrangement)

As a guy that's been successfully married for over 26 years, this made me laugh.

She asks you to go to NOLA to spend the night with her in a hotel you're not paying for, and have lunch with her tomorrow...on her birthday...and you're mad at her?

Congrats on being a lifetime bachelor.

The absolute horror of her wanting to be with you on her birthday evening and have a nice lunch in NOLA all while having a hotel room paid for.

This isn’t a woman being irrational, it’s you being a selfish jerk.
