Will be really interesting when these kids find out they have to pay taxes on this new money unlike the hundred dollar handshakes and other under the table tax free money they made.

yeah and they would no longer be dependents either.

But again. What companies are going to be like yeah, lets pay Brennan a bunch of money to do what? A commercial?

I dont understand the types of business deals these people think they will be getting? Modeling?

I get like a buga nation type thing. But thats the top Louisiana recruit ever and one of the best rbs to ever play for LSU.

The vastajority will be social media compensation.

Only the biggest recruits/players will get real sponsorships stuff.

No diff than in pro sports the big names get the endorsements.

So in LSUs case, could Brennan promote say reebok or adidas but not Nike? Since Nike is affiliated with LSU and a "booster"?

As far as the social media thing, that makes sense. I guess influencers promote products all the time.

Bc college sports was built on passion. Now it’s being built on business.

Some people will find that not as exciting or fun. And they’re right.

The rules needed to be relaxed - NOT thrown away.

I remember a story back when Skip was coaching and he tried to fly the kid home so he could be with a dying grandmother and NCAA wouldn't allow it - fricking stupid. But now, a car dealership can just give the kid a brand new Mercedes and tell him to keep it - also fricking stupid..

This will be a joke. They might as well decouple the teams from the schools and just note that these are the Tigers that happen to play home games on LSU's campus or the Crimson Tide that plays on UA's campus.

Yes, but he wouldn't be allowed to use any lsu logo, etc. According to what was explained today on radio.

LSU will have to approve any use of its logo, etc and likely would not approve a request of a player using anything while promoting anyone but Nike because of their contract

Cool emerging market that some who move fast can have some fun with. Tricky thing I guess would be the middleman or agent type component.

More or less what I think or split, some will go this way... some with go that way.

The NCAA is basically done in its former form.

I'm glad these kids will be able to make some money... but man there's about to be a TON of under the table corruption with this new rule.
Why is that when the NCAA, TV networks, Universities and Coaches make millions of dollars off of college sports it is just doing business but when players who actually create the entertainment are paid it is corruption? This is long overdue.

Is that where you think this money will be coming from? From, the athletic department revenue?

You can certainly make a point that players deserve to be paid.

But pretending Universities, their billion dollar infrastructure and investment isn’t part of the entertainment is retarded. Pretending ESPN and the production isn’t part of the entertainment is retarded. Pretending coaches aren’t part of the entertainment is retarded.

The TRUTH is that people watch college football, primarily, to support their school first and foremost. If you took the same product but removed the school connection, people wouldn’t watch.

That’s why a minor league has never come close to succeeding.

Eventually, money will come from the school as there will be no enforcement. At least if its the NCAA.
