WBRZ article

quote:

"These converters are worth up to a $1,000...$1,500 apiece through a
core buyer," Mark McCann said.

McCann is the owner of Walker Muffler. He has been replacing about a dozen stolen converters each week.

quote:

Catalytic converters contain platinum and are often sold to online buyers
with no questions asked about where they are from.

McCann says it can take an experienced thief only three minutes to crawl
under a car and steal one of these parts.

We get at least a few a week jacked from company trucks. It’s getting really fricking irritating.

Great. This is trickling down to the local thugs. I've heard of this happening in larger cities for some time now.

While you're at the muffler shop, might as well add some whistle tips.

Have been letting a buddy of mine park a couple of his work trucks at my house because anything he leaves at the office get their cats cut.

Cody's Lab

Somewhat unrelated but this guy extracts Platinum from catalytic converters. Also a great channel to spend hours watching

The burbs aren’t even safe in BR from this shite. Pretty bold to walk onto someone’s property and steal a damn catalytic converter, and an excellent way for a thug to wind up in the news who was shot to death by a homeowner.

BR tPOS does not fear the BRPD.

Ironically mine was jacked off an old Cadillac I had. Went from sounding like that weak arse 305 to a mean 350.

Never knew this was a thing, but not surprised to hear that it runs rampant in BR.

People who buy bulk converters are scumbags. I see them advertise online a lot.

Several company fleets and at least 1 car dealership have been victimized in the LC area.

Or take the lift kit out and lower the vehicle so that they can't crawl under it without jacking it up. They look for trucks that are lifted so they can get under it easily.
