Yeah, and you said that better than I did. But I still have some questions about the buyout: since we know....esp now...that Napier's next move will be for at least double his now current salary, couldn't we have asked for a bigger buyout? I just want us to be as prepared as possible for when he moves on.

And to me, the increase in the staff salaries was just as good news as Napier's increase. I wonder where that puts the staff in comparison to other G5's? That just says a ton about Napier....he is always fighting for his staff as much as himself.

Napier's buyout isn't to prevent him from taking another job, more of an agreed upon cost of ending the contract (incurred by his future employer).
It's a signal to Napier's eventual replacement that we won't handcuff them to the school with a ridiculous buyout if they're successful here.

Its actually comparable to a lot of the American schools that publish those numbers. A lot of them are private though and don't share that info

yes, that's the facts. Lots of people are conflating the OLOL donation to the stadium to the increase in coach's salaries. I guess some of that is just plain ignorance, but also some folks are just plain stupid.

What a great time to be a fan of the LOUISIANA RAGIN CAJUNS!!
We have the best coach in the G5 and just extended and increased his contract. Coach Napier is a great man and wants to raise his family in Lafayette. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays for another 5 years and takes UL to the top football program of the G5 and multiple access bowls.
