If it was and is such a great game that was wanted by so many, they could have made it and used random nameless faceless players and continued to sell it.

It was wanted and still is. Sounds like you’re implying they stopped making it because it wasn’t popular

It was always made with nameless faces. It came with numbered players. “Likeness” was the issue. Exact body types, positions, etc. that matched current roster numbers.

It was all bullshite and yes could have been created in a way to adjust legal terms, but they decided not to.
It had zero to do with sales and popularity. If anything it was one of the highest grossing games of all time.

I am pro 'pay the players'. Have been for very long time.

If paying players = birth of children, marriage (or divorce!), or new boat (real 'best days'), presume you are a big booster who now gets to keep more $ in your pocket?

although this might ruin your saturday, this was a very good ruling. Legally, morally and ethically.

Quite a few of you citing endowments for different schools, as if it is even relevant. Someone show me where Vanderbilt ,Tulane, or Princeton dips into the schools endowment to fund an athletic department.

They won’t. This helps very wealthy athletic departments. Texas will have tons of money to spend. Ohio State, Alabama etc

Supreme Court Ruling…Possibly the best day of my life.
The ruling will further split the power teams apart from the average teams....

A good ruling for the players, but not a good ruling for college football, IMO.

The final step to the end of competitive football for 90 % of the teams.

The strong will only get stronger, as it is the list of teams getting into the college football playoffs is very few teams.

It’s Monday and what are you even talking about?

I said nothing about the ruling. Nor was I replying to you. Tighten up next time.

If a player signs with LSU, then two years later gets a gig with Ta&m for more money see how fast some of you will start melting. Paying players is not new. Earlier years teams were paying and starlets were transfer to other schools because they had a better plug. and could win a natty

When the full NIL rules take place, it will make recruitng even more vicious than it is now!

Can you imagine: What school will offer me the most car dealership commercials? How many jerseys will I sell if I attend X University....

It will be chaos.....and the value of the 4 year full ride scholarship is now seriously diminished.

Life has changed baws!

Yes LSU has money in the athletic department. Their athletes can get endorsements from a car dealership for maybe 2or3 thousand $. Maybe more. Baton Rouge a very small city compared to Houston are Dallas were endorsements by deeper alumi money pockets who can pay 10-20 times that amount. Where would recruits go

Since when did we start paying players, and or students, a salary while attending a school to learn a profession so they can get paid afterwards?
Are we paying medical students as doctors before they get their degree? While football does generate millions of dollars the players also receives many benefits regular students don't such as training tables, state of the art equipment, tutoring and national publicity.
Colleges were designed to prefect your profession, not get paid in the process. This will not end well and I fear college athletics will be changed for the worse forever.

Just wait until the players start doing advertising for gambling sites and those people get their hooks into these young men.

LC Bayou: 100% agree! College life and sports has been changed for good.

I still can't understand why so many think that a 4 year scholly with room and board is not enough?

I would jump for joy if one of my boys achieved that!
A scholarship is an honor, at least I think so.

Exactly how are the players at a school who pays that much for a coach neglected?

A player could make millions per year if this was an open market, its not about the group. They should operate just like every other business operates, its not complex.

Next, Amazon pays its workers in dog biscuits.

Ask Saban if he will coach for room and board, and going to class.

Ok. They need compensation on there likeness. Whom it is are for what skill set. That person cannot use any thing that can reflect name of university, whether it is jersey or any other prop. Cannot even advertise for heisman trophy. Take all names off of jerseys. Cannot sell a jersey with school name and player on it. All schools have a trademark. No eye of tiger
