Payson was very adamant that he trusts Keegan and doesn't believe he's doing anything unethical (even though some people have insinuated that might be the case since the GP and FKTs and such aren't as heavy with anti-doping regulations as other disciplines).
Keegan is a world tour pro racing against guys who might make a UCI continental team. That's why it looks the way it looks right now. Would love to see sepp come over and race Leadville to see what that would look like.

Oh... also in our racing. NICA has kicked back up. The boy ended up 4th in varsity 6th overall at the opening time trial. Considering he's an enduro rider on a fairly heavy XC hardtail going up against other kids who solely train XC and are riding ultralight XC rigs, I was pretty happy with it. Of course, his times are going to plummet when they get into longer races.
He's been taking some time off post-nationals, and this school year is a heavy one at his school, so the racing has been pretty limited.
Have a couple of local enduros and going to do some GoNuts enduro races this Fall/Winter. We were supposed to go to Angelfire for a Team Trail Party race in October, but that's Homecoming weekend. He and his girlfriend are fine with him racing and missing it, but my wife is pushing back.

Yeah. That's who Payson compares him to (and I believe Finsterwald did as well in an IG post). I think it was Russell that said Sep was maybe the only other person who could have put up that kind of performance at Leadville.

Speaking of Podcasts, you ever listen to Bonk Bros? Another good one to add to list if not. Main character you might know is Dylan Johnson

I haven't listened to that one. My cycling podcast list is kind of ridiculous but trends toward enduro/freeride/lifestyle. I'll check it out. My list currently is:
Downtime: British mainly downhill related but also lots of industry interviews and such
Making up the Numbers: British. Almost all World Cup DH related
The Ride Companion: British. Olly and Davy basically just shoot the shite and have guests on from the cycling world.
Trail EAffect: great podcast about trailbuilding and trail advocacy that interviews builders and trail advocates.
Pinkbike Podcast: obviously the podcast from pinkbike
MTB Podcast: the guys at World Wide Cyclery's podcast.
Vital MTB: almost all DH related but with some historical and industry stuff as well.

What is everyone doing this winter?
Currently doing WTRL A division and getting outside when I can

As much zone 2 as I can stand….

Growing frustrated with my Wahoo Kickr and the revolving door of problems.
Ordered a Zwift Hub One. At $420 ($600 purchase price - 1 year of zwift comp’d) it’s much cheaper than buying another Kickr.

Didn’t they just discontinue that trainer?

Not to my knowledge. You may be thinking of the version without the electronic shifting.

You’re right.. it was the Classic, not the One

I really want that one gear adapter they put out. Shifting is annoying when racing on zwift.

Just moved to Minnesota, and it’s already snowing, so my Tacx trainer will get more use than ever before
I actually did buy some really heavy duty winter cycling apparel, but we’ll see how it holds up in this cold.

I had a big post that double posted yesterday and then got deleted, so I'll try to make a shorter one:
I came out of racing retirement to race an end-of-season enduro. Finished 2nd in the 50+ age group. My off season training will basically just be riding as normal, since we can ride year-round here. I have lights this year, so I'm looking forward to some night time trail riders. RPM classes 2 days a week. Heavy lifts in gym 3 days a week. Trail rides on weekends.
My son (finally 16) is in the gym 3 days a week on a training plan from PerformX (moto and MTB specific training). He'll do some XC rides, but mainly I encourage him to spend his off season doing stuff that isn't racing-related. So, he'll be on his BMX and DJ bikes a lot riding dirt jumps, skatepark, and street. He'll also spend a lot of time building and just doing "fun" stuff. He has access to an airbag now, so that's letting him work on his flips and flat spins.
He's pumped to be 16 and be able to drive himself to ride. He and a friend overnighted at Mt. Nebo, cleared and rode some trails, and then rode an air bag last weekend. Obligatory instagram post below:

I setup the Zwift Hub One last night and road a Tempus Fugit test ride today. Overall I’m pretty happy with it.
It is a lot quieter than my Kickr. It also pairs much easier with Apple TV.
I’m still working on placement of the electronic shift buttons. I also need to fine tune it on the Rocker Plate since the linear weight is different than the Kickr.
Last I realize now that taking a riding siesta for a few months was a really really bad idea.

The first month back is rough. I had a bad fall last year with sickness and travel. Took me about 2 months to get back to a respectable level.

Sounds fun. Mix some gravel into that?
I jumped back into WTRL today after dealing with a bout of the flu. It was rough lol

It was a solid ride. Just 2 of us so not much chance to chill and take a break. Yea, there was about 20 miles of nice manicured farm gravel
That sucks…. Hoping to avoid illness this winter. Got covid last year in January and threw off my lead up to big race in March. Was lucky to still have a good race
