He has said he doesn't plan to run against Kennedy, the administration hasn't contacted him about any positions in DC, and that hes looking forward to being back in the private sector. So he will probably just veto it all and delay it for another governor. He hates that hes running a red state. What a mismatch. If there ever was an example of someone placed in a position whatever the cost, it's this governor in this state.

Anyone got a comment on SB156 that was presented to the governor on 6/1? This is law now right?

You’re the bookie here. Odds of a veto session to override this?

As someone pointed out the legislature has NEVER held a veto override session.

More than that, they actually passed the budget this year soon enough they could have held override votes on JBE's line item vetoes. They didn't. Didn't even take the votes much less reach the 2/3'rds mark.

So yeah, very doubtful they call themselves in to override any JBE vetoes.

Because then he gets to say he opposed it without actually having to bother with a veto. It’s all optics.

Right, but then it's law. IDGAF what he thinks so long as it becomes law.

Hours are ticking down. I'm slightly optimistic.

I just checked and the website updated. SB118 was not one of the bills signed today. Will show up vetoed tomorrow when the signed bills for the 25th are uploaded. I was excited when SB156 wasn't signed on the 20th day. Lo and behold it was vetoed on the 21st day.

If you support the bill, you shouldn't be.

Conjecture or has he actually vetoed? I ask this because the special session threat over 156 is already brewing, and if he vetoes this one it will only get hotter.

JBE stated back during session that he wasn't going to sign the bill, and there is no indication otherwise. He'll veto it.

It becomes law if he doesn't sign it. He may very well veto it, but as I stated I'm optimistic simply because he's already under pressure from 156.

I'm not sure why that would sway him. He never has to run for reelection.

He doesn't want the embarrassment.

They won't override because they won't have a veto session.

Its conjecture. I had my hopes up on 156 but he vetoed on the 21st day.

JBE is a petty narcissist, God love em. If he were to not veto that would imply he got something wrong.

Stay optimistic.

And why won't a veto session happen? Most all senators and reps have said they intend to vote in favor. Stone have already sent in their letters. Senator Milligan, my turd Senator, had already sent his approval form in when I asked. The veto session is automatic in this case.

I have zero trust in politicians, but I don't understand the absolutes some of you are speaking in. Schexnayder is already pushing for a veto session based on 156. Of course its partially posturing, but it's a great threat to JBE over the carry bill if nothing else.

I’d be shocked but I suppose it is possible that they made a deal with JBE not to override 156 if he just doesn’t veto 118…..not highly likely but I guess slightly possible.

I don't think it would be a "deal" so much as an even greater threat of veto override. I would still agree with most of you that we(citizens) are likely to get fricked/vetoed, but I hope the veto override threat changes his mind.

So now it’s 6/25, did he veto it yesterday or is it past the legal 20 days and now automatically become a law?

He vetoed the transgender bill 1 day after the 20 day deadline. If it's not vetoed by tomorrow then I think its safe to say its law.

If its vetoed, you will hear about it today around 3 or 4.
