Boutte broke that game record last year -- 308 vs. Ole Miss.

Ok. Reed still has the sec record for yards in a season at 1,976
And that’s from an offense in 2001. He by far is the best WR in LSU history based on what they did at LSU

This. I know Wendell Davis is old school, but he made a few catches back in the 1980s that defied belief.
And Carlos Carson is from a still earlier era, but he set an unbelievable receiving record, which may never be broken: his first six receptions as a Tiger all went for touchdowns!

No, Reed had 1740. Chase broke that record with 1780.
DeVonta Smith now has the record (1856).
*Edited to capitalize the V in Smith's first name. Louisiana receiver talent is astoundingly good.

The sec counts chase and smiths bowl games, but not Reeds. So I’m just being consistent

The official statistics have him at 1740. But yeah, I agree, the bowl games from the past should be retroactively counted in official stats.

Reed is still the all-time leader in receiving yards, and still has the record for catches in a game.

Anyone without Reed as the consensus number 1 is either 14 years old or doesn’t know anything about LSU football history
Slightly interested in seeing how many 1st round DBs Reed went up against and dominated compared to Chase. My bigger gripe is the people saying Jarvis is better than them all tbh. And I'm a big fan of Jarvis.

I mean we are basing chase off one of the best seasons for a WR in college football history against insane competition. Its Jamar.

One of my favorite routes/plays in all my years watching football
Just beautiful, and right when we needed it most

Chase is #1 because he wasn’t force fed 19 passes a game.
His YPC is insane. Guys with 80+ catches don’t have 20+ yards per catches that’s for dude who have 10 catches and 2 of them are long ones against a directional school.
Reed isn’t getting the love he deserves and honestly, why the frick don’t we retroactively add bowl stats?
We have those numbers.

Landry. All-around doing everything, he was the best.

I guess whoever has the most stats. Reed or Chase.

We threw over 150 more passes in 2019 than in 2001.
Posted on 6/18/21 at 5:47 pm to Madking
How does that affect Reed YPC?
That number doesn’t lie. Reed had less yards with 94 catches than Chase did with 84. That’s significant.

Yeah, Reed had two bowl games that don't "officially" count in his totals. He had 14 Catches, 239 Yards, 2 TDs in the 2002 Sugar Bowl. So that puts his Season Totals at 108 Catches, 1979 Yards, 18.3 YPC, 9 TDs.
Reed had 9 Catches, 96 Yards, 1 TD in the 2000 Peach Bowl. With both games counted in Career Totals -- 190 Catches, 3336 Yards, 17.6 YPC, 20 TDs.
D.J. Chark has the highest YPC in LSU History (contingent on a minimum catches qualifier).

Don’t forget about Wendell Davis

That’s one serious group of wide receivers
