When are they going to learn that any concessions you make on the basis of making someone feel better about themselves is NEVER going to be enough?

The outrage du jour is that Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton creator) didn't have enough AFRO-Latin representation in his new musical movie feature, In the Heights. Think about that. It's not enough that the movie is practically 100% Hispanic in its casting. No, we need to kick and scream that there's not enough dark-skinned people in this movie.

quote:

“I’m seeing the discussion around Afro-Latinx representation in our film this weekend and it is clear that many in our dark-skinned Afro-Latinx community don’t feel sufficiently represented within it, particularly among the leading roles,” writes the 3x Tony-winning Broadway musical architect.

“I hear that without sufficient dark-skinned Afro-Latinx representation, the work feels extractive of the community we wanted so much to represent with pride and joy,” he continued.

quote:

"Latino is a very broad statement, but what it has done traditionally is weed out people that are Black inside that community," actress Stephanie Beatriz said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Again, if they want real representation, we could give it to them, but it means only 1:500-1000 people you see on TV are trans mental patients, not 1:10 like the current Madison Ave trend in commercials.

Can't have it both ways.

Real representation would look like this. Of every 100 tv/movie characters you see (commercials included):

About 15 would be Black
20 would be Hispanic
5 would be Asian
5 of any of the 100 would be ONE of the Alphabet People. L or G or B or T, not one of each.
1:1000 (maybe) might be trans

And 60 of that 100 would still be lily white American men and women. And 2 of those white folks would probably be Jewish.

That's according to the most recent census stats. But no, we need to see kids with two daddies, a white man married to a black woman, and three trannies in an attempt to get you to buy a box of Cheerios.

frick these people. It will NEVER be enough for them. EVER.

This is an example of how, in may ways, the "representation" (at least racial) really isn't about representation for non-whites to many, as much as it is about representation for those of African ancestry. Hence why the term BIPOC has one letter reserved exclusively for "black".

ETA: Let me just be 100% clear. Black people have every right to demand representation and there is nothing wrong with demanding it or the representation itself. My point is just that there is a segment of the progressives who want over-representation of black people and who will even attack other marginalized groups because of this. This is one example of that sort of attack.

He should just tell them he doesn’t like the kind of arse shaking the AFRO-x folks do, he prefers a more side to side...sexy Shakira move over the up and down twerking. Fall in line or don’t get the job, it’s his damn movie.

This foolishness takes me back to threads here regarding representation in commercials. All of the "identities" were discussed as being over represented.

The lib-fools made fun of the topic using the term "triggered". Now we see that an inch has become a light year.

Without a common experience (aka Christianity) to glue this country together, diversity is not a strength, it is a curse.

It's hard enough keeping a country together with people who share common values. Dang near impossible with a diverse hodgepodge of ethnic, racial, and religious peoles. Some of the fringe elements of these
so-called religions have some pretty oppressive stances.

Bottom line, our Constitutional Republic was tailored for a Christian nation. Our Founding Fathers hoped this nation would be guided by Christian values (love of neighbor, respect for life, and the most vulnerable, etc).It does not function well in a diverse nation with a mix of athiest, marxist, muslims, hindu, infanticidist, or whatever. Damn near impossible to keep all these factions in harmony. What a mess.

That's why we're witnessing the radical democrats moving us towards a dictatorship. What a peoples cannot accomplish through a common culture, a common God, they will accomplish through the barrel of a gun.

Next in store for us? The Mark of the Beast.
