In regards to hiring a new LSU baseball coach, I really think the program needs to make a hire that brings a new energy.

The Mainieri Era reminds me of the Miles era... although successful, we find ourselves lagging on and off the field in comparison to our competition.

Young, hungry and rather successful choices such as Vitello, Godwin and McDonnell seem more attractive than just settling with Bianco.

Bianco is a good coach and is a safe pick, but instead of evolving, the program would be stuck in a old, boring, corporate, Hold the Rope, Boomer state.

We had roughly 30 seasons combined of Miles, Mainieri, and Johnny Jones (and Trent before him).

We've rectified the energy/intensity in two of the three sports. It's now time to do that in baseball.

Where would you say LSU's baseball team ranks in our own conference right now?

I mean I understand your point here, but for the majority of his Tenure Mainieri was far more impressive than either of those other coaches. Miles consistently underperformed after the championship and Johnny Jones was just never good. Mainieri has brought LSU to the final 16 in 9 out of 13 years, with 5 trips to the final 8 and one national title. His career has not been one of embarrassment at all.

Based on everything you said after that, I don't think you do.

Since 1/9 Miles brought zero energy. Trent and Johnny never brought any energy. Mainieri was extremely passive.

I'm not talking about success. I'm talking about bringing energy and intensity to the program. Urgency even.
