Gausman closed out game 1 after the delay.
Then Started game 2, was hammered by a rain delay, and still only have up 3 runs on 6 hits with 1 walk. It was coaching and our lineup mustering only 3 hits and 4 walks that did us in.
Game one, Nola gave up 9 hits but limited them to only 2 runs. Our bullpen was good that game.
Game 3, Eades got touched up early, and we only got 3 hits.

Gausman couldn’t hold deGrom’s ballsack.

Why couldn't he pitch like that for my Braves? Still have his Braves jersey in my closet.

Degrom might be the best pitcher ever.
Maybe if baseball started like five years ago.

I wasn't even that upset we lost despite how big of an upset it was just because SB came in and earned their respect.
I was excited for them. I remember high fiving them when they made their lap around the Box.

FYI
Jacob deGrom went 4-12 at 3b in a 3 game series against LSU in 2008. He played for Stetson, did not pitch in the series.

He has barely above a .500 record at 32 and has averaged <10 wins a year. He won’t reach 300 wins for a career if he pitched another 10 years to age 42. That’s at a pace of 20 wins per year.
What you’re seeing is the result of shite baseball today. MLB has discussed the unwatchable game today and will look to make changes to the mound for example to help the hitters. It wouldn’t be the first time that has happened.

7-0 1.2 era after last night

You need to pay attention. He’s throwing over 100 mph at an astounding rate. Wins should not be the barometer. Evidently, he pitches so well, he distracts his own offense. He never gets run support, and is often bolstered by his own offensive production.

Can't deny those dudes had some talent.
What they had was swagger. They were good, knew it, and acted like it.
Who ever the next coach is needs to bring some of that back to Baton Rouge.

The deGrom as the best pitcher argument is way premature, but arguing against deGrom because of pitcher wins is silly. The Mets offense is notoriously terrible when deGrom pitches, which has nothing to do with deGrom’s pitching ability.

It’s not just premature it’s asinine. He isn’t anywhere close to that conversation lol. Not even in the same universe

There have been others that say the same. JR consistently threw well over 100 as did Nolan WHEN THEY WANTED TO.

I’m not discrediting what he is doing for THE last COUPLE seasons. I’m saying throw 98 at 50 like Ryan and get back to me.
All these faux shite NO-NOs is hilarious. LOOK AT THE HITTERS AND THE shite STYLE OF HITTING. OOOO Launch angle... OOOO OPS. Ruth, Mantle, DiMaggio, Williams, Mays, Gehrig, Rose, and on and on were far superior hitters. All these guys are at the top of the lists like OPS for a freaking reason. There were plenty of cheating and flame throwing pitchers then. Just no guns.
Here are his stats as a reminder. And YES WINS ARE IMPORTANT ESPECIALLY IN BIG GAMES.

After last night's shut out of Padres, he has the lowest ERA ever for a pitcher after 9 starts to the season.
.062
And he still has 2 losses on the season plus a few no decisions...you can't use wins and losses to judge a pitcher, especially when he gets as little run support as deGrom does.

Again, hitters are pretty much garbage.

I think the reason hitters appear to be garbage is because pitching is better than ever. There is way more velocity than ever in the game. And the analytical movement has pitchers optimizing their arsenals like never before. Gausman’s splitter has always been his best pitch. He is throwing it a career high rate (twice what he threw it with the Orioles). No surprise he is having the best year of his career.

Absolutely not. Look at innings pitched for your answer. If you don’t think the umps have changed, you’ve not watched baseball as many years as I have.
