Spent 2 days there in October. Peninsula Grill in the Planters Inn is very good. Also ate at Circa 1886 which was very good as well.

Stayed at Meeting Street Inn. Great location. Old property but rooms were nice.

The Vendue.
Very nice hotel in a perfect location within easy walking distance to most places you would wand to go, including many excellent restaurants. They have two nice bars including one on the rooftop.

Favorite restaurants include FIG, SNOB(Slightly North of Broad), and the Peninsula Grill.

We like the Francis Marion Hotel and find it to be a good value. We're in NC, so not too far away, and a couple times a year we'll grab a deal we see for this hotel on Travelzoo or Priceline and head down there for the weekend.

A block or so away from 4 Corners is The Mills House. Beautiful old hotel with a gorgeous restaurant inside - The Barbados Room. Across the street from that are Poogan's Porch, Husk and 82 Queen, which are local favorites. I've never visited Husk, but the other two are right up there with the other places you've been pointed toward.
Up by Marion Square and The Francis Marion (already mentioned and a great choice as well) is 39 Rue de Jean. Really fun atmosphere and a great bar, and hands down the best French place in the city. It and Hall's are my favorite downtown restaurants.
Mt. Pleasant, right over the bridge, has some good fried seafood, cold beer type places. Red's or Vickery's on Shem Creek are pretty fun places, especially for brunch.

We stayed at Hotel Bella Grace. It's a Marriott property. Got the suite upgrade for the stay. Getting ready to leave, United canceled our flight home. They let us stay an extra night without using a suite night certificate and charged minimal points. Delaney Oyster house is located in the hotel. The bartender there was absolutely one of the best. Give him a flavor profile and he'd just create drinks.

Unless something has changed drastically, "82 Queen" definitely ought to be on the list for lunch!
