I remember being shown a picture on that rotton.com website years ago. It was allegedly from an emergency room where someone had blown off their lower jaw and nose in an attempted suicide.
Dunno if that guy ultimately survived but missing your brain and destroying most of your face would make him an uncommon tinder match.

Phineas Gage is a famous case studied in neuroscience that effectively was “shot” in the head through the frontal lobe and survived.
