Played at the Preserve today in Van Cleave. What a course......everything was so well maintained. I haven’t been on a cleaner golf course, everything so neat and cut perfectly. Staff was great, pace of play was good, and it wasn’t that busy after 2pm. Greens were in great shape, had been punched not long ago, but still rolled great and the fairways were the best I’ve seen. Shot 82 from the blues with a 9....yes a damn 9.....on a par 5. I highly recommend this course.

No doubt. I've experienced playing with him on a course he designed. Let me guess, he told you all about his amateur career and then how he went on to win the US Open as a rookie.

The Preserve is very nice. Great course.

What's everybody's opinion on their membership costs? 2K per/yr to pay $50 per/rd. The membership is cut to 6k for 5yrs if you're so inclined.

I've only played two Jerry Pate courses, Kiva Dunes and The Preserve, a d I've loved both of them. I want to see the rest of the courses he has designed, just haven't been able to get to them yet.

Me and some BAWS i work with play it a few times a month. We rotate the membership every year, my pal got his this year for $1500. I believe it went up to $1800. Either way, $50 a round for guests is hard to beat.

Love that course. Usually get out there a few times a year. Do a stay and play at The Palace and usually hit one or 2 other course while there.

They do it right out there and it’s always is phenomenal shape. I tell you what though, they’re not keen on playing after a big rain. Grand Bear or Shell Landing on the other hand doesn’t give a shite.

When Shell Landing is right, it’s a beautiful course. Just don’t play it if the wind is under 5mph, the gnats will carry you off.

Ain’t that the truth. They have some mean some bitches out there. It can be blowing 20+ and you still get bit. Hole 6 can get interesting when it’s blowing out there

Me and #10 just don’t get along, no matter the wind direction.
