Really can't go wrong with either.

Dutchtown if you're the Prairieville type.
St. Amant if you're the farming redneck type.
East Ascension if you're the trailer park type.....

In other words:
Dutchtown - Cocaine
St. Amant - Weed and Shrooms
East Ascension - Meth and Heroin

Dutchtown Demographics

St. Amant Demographics

East Ascension

Donaldsonville HS (not that anyone asked)

Pay for a private school in town so your child has the best opportunity to succeed.

Dutchtown if you want your kid to be in rehab at 16, strung out on heroin at 18, and either dead or in jail by 20

Isn’t Prairieville building a new high school? I haven’t heard how the lines will be drawn and curious if it will pull kids from Dutchtown or EA.

May have to wait a few years, but a new HS is being built ....

My kids are enrolled in AP and Honor classes at EA and are as well taught as Dtown or StA. As a matter of fact, their classes are not overloaded so they get ample time with the teachers in class.

Now the general classes are probably close to your assessment.

DTHS scores a little better academics wise going by the numbers. There are hood areas nearby each school so that's a wash. Dutchtown is newer, and the area has been more recently urbanized a bit compared to STA's more rural vibe, so that's just personal preference on your end. Be prepared to deal with a lot more traffic on 73 if you go to Dutchtown compared to STA.

Ultimately it comes down to what kind of community you want to live in,. You like the suburbs with more of a city vibe, go to DTHS. You like a more open, spaced out rural area, go to STA. What your kid does after HS will depend way more on the character of your kid than whether they went to STA or DTHS, they'll get basically the same opportunities and same temptations from either school.

ETA: Also Dutchtown is more crowded (hence traffic warning earlier in this post) so keep that in mind if size of the student body is a big factor for you.
