How is ga a higher seed with a worse record? I didn’t know how to properly answer his question

Head to head match ups against other teams. I.E. Georgia over LSU via Tennessee match up. Georgia took 1. LSU took none.

According to Hanny

They aren't a higher seed with a worse record. They're a higher seed with the same record.

Does it really matter in an 8-9 game?

When looking at head-to-head/common opponents:

Georgia took a series over Vandy 2 – 1, but lost series to Texas A&M (1 – 2), Auburn (1 – 2) & Ole Miss (1 – 2)…
LSU went 0 – 3 against Vandy, but beat A&M (2 – 1), Auburn (2 – 1) & Ole Miss (2 – 1)…

So when looking at it like this, it doesn’t make sense to me... But whether you're #8 or #9 doesn't matter at all.

I agree. It seems like it should look at all common opponents, not just top seed and going down in order.

UGA and LSU both were 13-17.

The tiebreaker that decided it was record against highest seeded common opponent which was Tennessee. We were 0-3 and UGA was 1-2.

Okay, so Georgia went 1-2 vs. Tennessee while LSU when 0-3... That doesn't really make much of a difference, considering LSU took 3 series from teams when Georgia lost all 3 series to those same teams...

Okay. This makes more sense. I did not know this was the deciding factor. Thanks for the info

So the fact that UGA won 3 series and LSU won 5 means nothing? And played the 2nd toughest schedule in the country.

If the season was over now LSU would be in better position than UGA. Today’s game is big

Your stance is that it's dumb that non conference games aren't taken into account for seeding the conference tournament?

yes. why would non conference be excluded as a factor of ranking the quality of the teams play that year?

Why would non conference games be included in the process of determining a conference championship?

Your position is illogical.
