Not LSU related but signals a huge issue in recruiting.

Just at a loss now. I categorically disagree with this.

If I were Texas I’d be having some second thoughts about this offer.

Not surprised at all. Everything is about me and my brand instead of team now. Sad because some of my greatest memories are from my senior football season.

FWIW Rivals editors don't think this will become a trend. Let's hope not...

Unless you are a freak athlete, skills wise and physically, I can't see how a year off from organized football helps you in any way going to the next level. This won't happen much, I feel.

You had to know this was coming. I figured this was inevitable. Once kids get committable offers, why should they play?

That’s the mentality of people now. Do as little as possible. Got that draft projection locked in, sit out

Get that scholarship offer, sit out

Will not be surprised to see this crap trickle down even more to juniors or sophomores in high school

Don't we live in a free market society?

Children are able to make money and work in any number of occupations. Does anyone disagree with this? What is the age that someone should be and not be able to earn money?

There is so much money in sports. Currently, the money gets to these kids anyway in illicit ways. Now, it is out in the open and authorized. Taxes are paid. The free market works best when things are out in the open and information is equal to all parties involved. More of the money will get to the producers. The NCAA, coaches, schools, etc. make the vast majority of the money off of these kids now.

I don't see this as a negative for college basketball. In fact, if more of the players who would opt out after a year or two go directly to pro ball, it may mean there are more 3 and 4 year players in college. I think that this could be a net positive for quality team play in college basketball.

I'm happy that these kids can make money off of their talents. Most of them choosing this path are not getting their college degree anyway.

If they are big time five stars they may as well sit out their jr and sr year in hs and 3 yrs in college and just train for the combine. They are making business decisions by the way, what if they get hurt?

His future can depend entirely on a full ride scholarship

If he destroys his knee during his high school senior season, that can be in jeopardy

Stop treating these kids like livestock. They were given a great amount of athletic ability. They should do whatever they can to use that to ensure future success.. if that’s through athletics or through a degree, they decide how they want to greater their odds

It baffles me how old arse boomers are offended by stuff like this

It could mean that College Football will get fresher players in the ranks. Most times 3-5 star athletes are playing both ways in high school. Hypothetically speaking what if you take the LF high school hits away from him. That may equal an extra NFL season long term. I think the running back position is unique because once you hit 30 yrs old production falls off.

Its his body and his decision. Im sure he spoke with Texas about it before making the decision.

Let people do whatever the hell they feel is necessary for their future.

LSU and other schools pull scholarships, pull "committable offers" aka "processed" every damn cycle to healthy/hard-working kids and nobody bats an eye about it... why? Because schools are doing whats best for them by going after other players they need/want. Same shite applies...

The kid has no idea he's wasting the best times of his life. Not to mention that NFL does deep research on what makes up each player and who they are, this screams red flag.

Well at least Sark and Texas can’t act surprised when this kid does the same thing to them after one season.

The reduction of character in this country is deplorable!

And it is starting at a really young age now. Not just sports, in all categories. Kids are panzies these days!
