re: Check Engine Light after Filling-Up

My wife's 2019 Chevy Traverse had a purge valve recall that was hell to deal with. If we filled up her vehicle it would stall going over a speed bump.
They fixed it 3 times & were nice about it but aggravation took hold and we got a new vehicle.

I would run that tank out of it, get some fresh fuel in it and run for a bit, then clear the code and see if it comes back. It won't go away on its own.

Chevy's are notorious for the gas tank vent solenoids or tank purge valves going out, especially the trucks. If you have a hard time filling up with the pump continuously clicking off, it's usually one of those 2 things. The engine light will go out after fill up sometimes but usually come back on for good later.

Thanks; I'll give this a go.
Is disconnecting the battery as good as clearing the code with a handheld reader?

You'll need a scanner to get rid of this one I believe.

Evap canister likely. My Frontier did the same thing. Eventually it wouldn't let me add gas.
It was a very simple replacement, took about 10 mins with novice level skill and basic tools.

Fuel canister attached to your tank likely isn't venting and/or is leaking.

Yes, but it was because we were filling up with the truck/car running.

I'll tell you what idea I have.
You are going to pay $150.00 to get it fixed so you can then pay $60.00 for an inspection sticker.
Then the light will come back on in three months

I had this issue with Sams club gas. Switched to Shell and Costco and the issue stopped. Do you always by gas from same station?

I've been loyal to a station and later mixed things up to see if things changed. No luck either way.

There were two nearby convenience store gas stations I'd go to every now & then, and the light would always go off.
A mechanic told me it was their "cheap gas", and the light will go off once the tank is gone and refilled with gas from a dedicated station, like Shell or Exxon.
Sure enough, it was true. I don't use convenience store gas anymore, and the light hasn't gone off since.

Has anyone said "ask your husband/BF" yet?
If so, carry on.

I'm a bit disappointed it's taken this long.

It's telling you you got AIDS.

It's probably either your gas cap, or a small evap leak.
