EVAP sensors or EVAP canister is/are all bad

This happened to me for a while. Check engine light after filling up. Took to dealership and they said it was EVAP sensors or canister and would need to drop has tank to fix. I held off because not paying for a non-issue environmental sensor.

Year goes by and then my gas tank would only go up to 3/4 full. Lasted a couple months before I found someone reasonable to fix. They said canister was bad and the chain had caught on something in tank they had never seen before. Gas tank was jacked and should’ve fixed canister year plus prior.

That code could be hundreds of different things on most vehicles

P0420 is the same around the board not hundreds of things…

P0420 is catalyst low Efficacy bank 1

This is your catalytic converter

That is 1 code that 99.9% of the time takes no additional diagnostic your converter is clogged up and causing excessive back pressure into the engine tossing that code. Only one way to fix it and that’s to replace your catalytic converter

Or, drill a little hole right in front of the light through the plastic dashboard screen cover and then take an ice pick and make the light go out.

It’s the equivalent of simply turning up the radio if your car is making a bad noise.

Jh22586 is the winner! I retired last March after 40 yrs as a mechanic specializing in computer diag/repair. Jh22...is dead on. No doubt about it. OP needs to check with Nissan in regard to catalyst warranty. I'm not saying it has warranty- I'm saying it's possible. Good luck with it.
