Multiple tornado warnings and non stop lightening. Forecast shows this crap hanging around most of the week. I’ve been out of the loop recently, what is causing all this garbage weather?

Living on the gulf coast. It’s the same weather as it has always been. The TV weather men are just hyping every thunder storm now

It’s been the wettest three month period in years. It’s definitely unique

It’s Mother Nature punishing all the baws for not wearing their masks.

It’s not the normal thermal thunderstorms we get during the summer and they aren’t nocturnals coming in off the coast or tropical. I’m not aware of any front pushing through. Is their a stationary front stalled offshore?

He’s correct. These storms have been originating in Texas. Not the normal Gulf storms.

This one looks very slow moving.

Last week was stalled front in South La.

This week they have upper level low spinning in Texas and a Ridge of Hight pressure in the SE so LA is in the middle of that and it creates a moisture funnel

Yup was planning a trip up to Arkansas to get some family graves cleaned up.

After looking at the 3 day forecast, that's not happening. Monday - Wednesday like 80%+ chance of heavy rain and tstorms

Meteorologist Nick Mikulas
Rain of varying intensity has spread across most of the area. Radar estimates range from almost 5 inches in western Vernon Parish, to around 0.10 inches along the Mississippi River. As crazy as that sounds, it’s roughly what was expected. Not those exact totals, but the fact that there could be flooding issues close to the Texas border, and occasional bouts of annoyance close to the Mississippi River. Here in the middle, we’ve seen a steady rain for the last several hours, with 0.73 inches at the airport in Alexandria. Rain will continue off and on through Thursday, with a low severe threat, especially, you guessed it, near the Texas border. With this fast start, it’s entirely possible someone sees a storm total of 10 inches out west. It’s also entirely possible some gauges don’t see an inch of rain to the east. That’s a pretty crazy swing over about 120 miles. I’ll note anything interesting along the way, though timing rain vs. “dry” time will be tough. It does look like a rainy Monday for a good chunk of the day. Tuesday looks more like a scattered thunderstorm day than an all day rain, but in a set up like this, it’s better to slap an 80% chance on it and watch radar. Which I’ll be doing. Because of course I will.

There is only one word I will call people out for misspelling and this is it. It’s not a typo. It’s not some auto-correct deal with your phone. You’re just an adult who can’t spell lightning.

That just isn't true.

More than that, I think the weather in general over the last 5 years has sucked worse than at any other time in my 40 years here.
