The way inflation is looking, I will be shocked if that would equate to 2,6 million at today’s dollars.

No mortgage and they can have $100k a year income with 4% return on investments. Easily doable if they’re responsible

50k pension annually plus nearly 6k/month from SS at full retirement age goes a long way to bridging the gap.

They could comfortably retire with zero savings.

My parents retired with less than a million and have been fine. Live on the river, too.
