Looking at a Powerdrive with iPilot. Im sold on the features no question but is a 1200.00 trolling motor still be a 1200.00 trolling motor 5 years from now? What is the lifespan of all those chips and such?

Here’s a picture of what I’m hoping to catch.

I have the motor guide xi5. It just turned 5 years old and I haven’t had 1 problem with it yet. The Minn Kota is just as reliable as the xi5 except for the auto deploy function. It’s the best added thing I have done to my boat.

I have a pretty old one. A riptide 36v with ipilot. Board just burned up for some reason and got it fixed for $200 or so. It's worth it. Only thing I would keep on the boat if I had a chance.

On a side note I saw these baws from TX fishing the other day and they had 2 installed. One on bow another on the side. They were only using the front one though. Not sure how this works.

Myself & All my buddies who have them haven’t had any major issues.... trust me, Once you fish with spot lock you will never look back. I have not touched an anchor in two years

FYI I have an terrova. The only major issues that I have seen and heard about or people who have the ulterra With auto deploy and trim

I’ll probably get the one without self deployment. I’ve heard a few things about that.

One of my sons has a 14 ft Kayak with the iPilot trolling motor. He loves it.

every single person I know with ulterra had issues and swapped for a terrova. It’s not that hard to walk to the bow and drop da motor

Told someone earlier on the Facebook Louisiana Fishing Report group so y'all may be competing against each other, but there's a "Minn Kota, Hummingbird electronic" group on Facebook that I got my terrova from. With a little research and time you should be able to find what you're looking for for a few hundred dollars off with just a few dozen hours on it

Same here, going on 2 years now. Absolutely love it.

I got the terrova as well - 80 lb 24v system moves a 20' lund around just fine.

I had the power drive. It got aggravating getting the trolling motor deployed. You have to keep the shaft lubricated or it will go about 4” then stop for one you have to step on. Stowing it is annoying also. I would get the next step up that deploys and stows at the push of a button.
