Start watching YouTube videos of moccasins and copperheads. You’ll get the hang of identifying them

Reminds me of a call I got last September from the mom. Snake in the bedroom! She wasn't kidding but it was about an 8" copperhead. Little shite took me about 2 hours to corral. She had a gaggle of stuff under the bed and that sucker was a smart one. Hide and go seek champion.

I have some snake deterrent crap to throw out in the yard. I’ll do that. Don’t know what good that’s going to do but we shall see.

None, but it makes the wives happy so might as well do it.

I caught 2 garter snakes and relocated them from my backyard to an empty lot last week. I come across a copperhead and relocated his head from his body. First time I've come across one at my house in 20 years.

I asked an LSU herpetologist if moth balls and other stuff are effective, short answer "no'. I live on a fresh water lake, I have found that ground cover, particularly Japanese ardesia (sic), to be an effective barrier. I rarely see anything other than garter snakes and black racers around. I have about 400' of waterfront, most of it has a bulkhead, the rest has ground cover. Some of the neighbors have water moccasins, I don't.

My grandchildren are worse than cats, they'll pick up a snake and bring it to me, sometimes I'm not prepared for a snake in my face. Luckily they know the bad guys.

Saw one of those guys in our garden last week. He was curious about what I was. Left him to do his thing.
