Another Auto (Pickup) Shopping Thread - Florida Man Edition

Located in South Florida / Tampa area.
I have a 2014 F150 SuperCrew 2x4 6.5’ bed 5L V8 with 69K on the odometer and with the used truck market I am getting offered maximum around 21k on trade in from dealership when shopping new trucks. It is worth between 25-30 if I sold it myself.
Every dealership I have been to is using the same lines about lack of inventory and microchips - they don’t have new inventory and cannot order trucks to specifications or even get new inventory - allegedly. They say that is why they’ll pay “top” dollar for my trade - used vehicles are hot - but they refuse to cut a deal on the new trucks.
We fell in love with a 4x4 Ram Laramie SuperCrew sticker price was 58 and change. Tried to negotiate with them multiple times over multiple days - they came 1k down off the sticker and with tax and title out the door the price was over 2-3 grand over asking (sticker) price.
I got as far as offering them my trade in and 35K cash and he said we were still too far apart and wouldn’t budge. He let me walk out when I had wife on board for a 60k truck and we were within 3 grand. They haven’t tried again or with a different slightly less expensive truck. This morning I wouldn’t shake hands on the same deal now that the sexy new truck glamour has faded from my eyes.
At this point I’m thinking I have to wait until end of the months in November and December when the 2022 trucks start to roll out and hope they will make a better deal on the older inventory.
I am also thinking I’m in a balancing act with my used truck and when the new inventory comes out their won’t be as much demand and I’ll get beat to death on a trade-in.
I thought I wanted a new Tundra when this process started but found that they ride and handle like trash and ride comfort and handling are too important for how I use my truck. And they want 60k for a limited as well.
GMC and Chevy were similar cost and the only dealership that said we could order new stock but I didn’t like the finish on the GMC enough to pay 60k
Dodge rode the best and has the best finishes on the interior - my wife loved the sunroof/moonroof combo in the Laramie. The V8 Hemi with the VVT etorque really makes the truck acceleration enjoyable and peppy. I was ready to shell out 60K and then start looking at aftermarket cold air intakes. I hate the 20 inch tires and would rather drop down to 18.

Pics of wife and then maybe I’ll read the rest of your attempt to mimic “War and Peace”.

The rear independent suspension is pretty damn smooth.

Is there a question in that babble?

No questions just a wall of text.
Just wanting the OT to tell me how broke I am and how I can’t negotiate for shite - I know you OT ballers would have dropped your nuts on the table gotten 30k for my trade and then paid 40k cash in 20s and tipped the guy 5K in cash for his services.

The new inventory is extremely low in most places. I ordered a new vehicle and still got current incentives Ford is offering. Ordered on 3/29 and should take delivery beginning of June. You’re probably better off selling your truck and then trying to buy vs trade in

Why not sell the truck privately. Then slap down 55k for the ram and tell em to take it or leave it. You may not have a truck in this scenario

You offered a lot. Third mistake is on him.
Find another dealer, plenty that will deal with you way better than this.

I thought so too but I have been shopping and it sure seems like the inventory shortage is legit or every dealer in my area all decided to get their stories straight across multiple trucks and brands...

You must have been dealing with Jerry Ulm Dodge
I did the same thing about two years ago on a brand new 4x4 for almost the same aspects with a cheaper trade in. I walked in with a bankers check and my trade in...Walked out the door with the bankers check and trade in

You are not far off on the dealership but it wasn’t that one.
Situation you described is identical to mine - I called my insurance company in the parking lot before going in to see how much more it was going to cost me on 6 month premium. I had both sets of keys and a paper title with me and a check for 33K - I was ready to make a deal.
After I had put another 2K in cash out of my pocket and he still wouldn’t move on price or trade in the deal was done I had to walk.
Now convincing the wife to let me spend that much again is a huge long shot. You drive home in a truck that does 90% of what the new one does and you own it free and clear ... the magic of a new car and huge new payment seems a lot less sexy and glamorous.

My tundra handles and rides great as well I know it won’t be in the shop anytime soon

If you go to RAM's website and look at the incentives available in the Tampa area, they far exceed the $1K they are taking off.
Basically, they're trying to rip you off. Just walk away.
