What the hell has happened to America?

I remember as a kid supporting the clean air act of 1963 fine as day. My proudest moment is taking a trip to Yellowstone and seeing a Bison up in person. Now in today's divide, I'd be labeled a RINO or prog pussy as a republican for supporting protecting the environment and our national parks which was created by ole Tedy himself. I was taught in school America existed before 1776 ya know like the pilgrims landing in Plymouth. Now if you bring up native Indians like the Mississippian culture, it's like it didn't exist at all. What the hell happened to critical thinking and getting a decent public education in America? Today's kids have no respect for learning about history, civics and understanding each other's differences.

I'm a pretty hard conservative and I am an avid environmentalist. Not so much global warming, but protecting the land and national parks for animals to prosper and for us to enjoy is something everyone should be on board with.

If the Clean Air Act cost $2 trillion of tax payer money and only 9% of it actually had something to do with clean air, would you be for it? Would you be curious where the other 91% went?
Why is it necessary for the government to pass a multi-billion dollar piece of legislation to declare the air to be clean? Or to declare anything to be anything?
Answer: they are mortgaging the future of the country to pay themselves and their buddies off under the guise of something noble.
