That guy, besides already being financially set for life, will succeed in whatever he does. Crazy drive. Good for him.

Very underrated career who ended up being a solid QB when the 49ers shitty coaching situation stabilized.

Class act and accomplished the impossible by successfully recovering from that leg injury and returning to the field, was a better quarterback than people knew, didn't get fully unleashed on the league until 2017 and it could've been greater, that pass to Vernon Davis in 2011

Can't believe he came back to begin with and risk any more trauma to that leg
It's the right decision

Agreed. He had a pretty damn good career. Came back from an injury that almost killed him and had a productive couple of years after that. Seems like a really good guy on top of it. Props. Enjoy retirement.

All you have to know about Alex smith and his toughness is that his first hit he took from the leg injury was by Aaron Donald.

The NFL should rename the Comeback Player of the Year Award in his name. Good for him!

Fantastic retirement video. Extremely classy. And I’ll second the motion to have the Comeback Award named after him.

I was blown away to find out how he was treated in Washington. I thought it was an all around positive relationship between the two. As this site loves to say. Snyder gonna snyder
