Just read his latest article on CNNSI and wanted to throw up. He had a 3pg article throwing dirt on the Saints being in New Orleans and questioning the viability of the Saints in New Orleans.....Nice timing...I wonder if the next time a hurricane rolls through Miami and causes a game to be rescheduled will a similiar article be written about them?

Just discussing this type of thinking by the elitest from NY. It makes you wish a Cat 3 would hit Manhatten. Then we could ask why do they keep rebuilding Manhatten. Its like a Hurricane could not hit Miami, Houston, Tampa, etc.

I totally disagree. first of all after Katrina, he was one of N.O.'s biggest supporters. What he is saying is probably right on.
If N.O. had gotten the dveastion that they were anticipating, chances are the population of the metro area would have shrunk to under 500,000. That would have ment that the team would have probably been relocated.
he is not being a prophet of doom or downing the city. He is stating cold hard facts. We have to accept that.
I love N.O., born and raised there and lived there until I was 55 years old. Moved 12 years ago because of business and family reasons. We still come back at least once a month and will continue to do so.
But the reality is, the NFL is a business,and if the fan base were to leave the area, Mr. Benson and the league would have no choice to look at other options.,

Theres no reason at all to post that ahead of a possible tragedy....if things would have happened for the worst...it still would have been crappy to do so. Do you think he would write a column on LA's inability to be able to keep a team if they had a massive earthquake? He also failed to mention that for the last three seasons the Saints have sold out every game, including this year with prices going up. So I think his comments are way out of line....hell we've had better ticket sales than Jacksonville.

Not really. It was irresponsible and sensationalist journalism. At the time he wrote the article the projections were mostly calling for NOLA to be largely spared.
If the hurricane had hit us squarely and made it obvious that we'd have to move home games than we'd be fair game. As it was, Peter King (who was one of NOLA's biggest advocates in 2005) put himself out there firmly as one of the leading naysayers just 3 years later.
I've always hated that windbag, but now I hate him even more. I relish the next KSK "article" that has him literaly getting teabagged by Tony Romo and begging for more. The huge creampuff.

Maybe "spared" was a little strong, but most projections had New Orleans avoiding the worst of the storm and nobody really thought the Saints would be spending the entire 2008 season on the road like King implied.
BTW - I guess you've calmed down about Lake Charles at this point? It seemed like you were actively rooting for the storm to go more east TOWARDS New Orleans and Baton Rouge to spare Lake Charles. Insane logic, there.

yeah i didn't want my area to deal with it's 2nd major hurricane in 3 years (Which nola has had, but BR has not...but we didn't get nearly the help or publicity that nola got with katrina, so call me jaded). i wasn't rooting for it TO hit nola, but why would i root for it to hit LC?

I guess I'm jaded being from New Orleans and what-not, but this point of view still surprises me everytime I hear it. We are New Orleans! We host Super Bowls, Final Fours, NBA All Star Games, GOP Conventions, World's Fairs, and Mardi Gras!

Gustav hit Baton Rouge...will LSU relocate forever if another one hits?? King is an a-hole. Katrina made NOLA stumble and Gustav almost did the same. There will never be a NOLA knockout punch - too many mortgages and natural resources for people to abandon the NOLA market.

so is houston memhpis atlanta d.c..... lake chucks pretty bad too.... not as bad a nola but nola still has more to offer. much rather nola than the chuck any day SFP

FYI, every major city has crime, corruption, horrible planning, weather issues, scumbags, drug addicts, thugs, bad schools, slums. NOLA is not different, the media just likes to make you think so.

I dont wish a hurricane on any state, but if I was told a hurricane and there was no way to avoid it and I got to pick where it was going, NYC without hesitation would be my pick, lol.

I love how other cities in Louisiana have penis envy, and have problems realizing that if it wasn't for the tax revenue generated in the city their little towns would surely notice. I can't remember the last time Lake Charles generated as much revenue in one day as the city does for a Saints game.....god forbid a huge event like the Super Bowl or Mardi Gras.
