ETA: why wouldn’t you live in the city with kids? Good parts of metairie aren’t that much cheaper

I have a mid-20's friend trying to date using all these new apps. They have said their Metry location is a deal breaker sometimes.
Think the circle they are dating in is somewhat the cause, but I still think it is funny.

Because you're actually safe, your infrastructure works, your tax dollars aren't completely wasted on garbage.
Lots of reasons

Hard to convince me of that - but you do you
But why is it different when you’re single vs when you’re married and have kids?

CBD or Warehouse district. Preferably within walking distance to the Rouses on Baronne.
I used to live in that area. Tons of entertainment, easy highway access via calliope, walkability like no other. Safe as far as nola standards are concerned.

It's hard to convince you that the S&WB sucks balls and the city floods constantly?
It's hard to convince you the roads are in piss poor shape? Especially in the areas that likely pay the most in taxes?
It's hard to convince you of crime statistics?

Is this a serious question?

I'd say JP is comparatively better with infrastructure type situations, but still not good.

The good parts of Metairie blow anything in NOLA out the water in that regard.
Our street in Om got repaved just because

They are actually doing a ton of street work uptown right now. I'm sure the streets will suck in due time.

One of the few things that seem to be happening under Toya is roadwork.
Not sure if she really has anything to do with the uptick, but it is happening.

Jefferson Parish floods too

It’s been that way forever - and some of those roads in JP aren’t in great shape either

Yes it is - why is it ok to live in the city when you’re single but not married w/kids? JP schools suck - so you’re going to private school either way. What’s the difference between living Uptown or in the neighborhood around Beau Lac (lakefront of Metairie) besides a drive way?
Posted on 4/14/21 at 1:26 pm to Bjorn Cyborg
I've been near the Magazine/Napoleon intersection for nine years. Great neighborhood, very walkable. I'm a dude but the only crime I've dealt with was one car break in last year where they busted out two windows so not terrible for a nine year stretch.
Despite all of the negativity in this thread, the Audubon Park/St. Charles/Magazine/Napoleon rectangle is one of the best and safest parts of the city. I'm on the river side of Magazine and it has gentrified considerably over the past decade to the point that it is no longer hood adjacent because the hood near the river doesn't really exist anymore.
Oh, and Lakeview sucks. Live in OM if you want that lifestyle.

Ok yea, you're just being willfully ignorant. There will be no convincing you.

How often is she willing to be robbed per year?

Well, Jefferson Parish does flood - Lake Ave, over behind the Barnes & Noble, Elmwood - and that’s not even considering the West Bank or Grande Isle or Kenner
Lynette Dr and some of those roads off W Metairie are atrocious

It has really gotten crazy, especially over the past year. That area is still pretty dicey with crime too.

this thread looks like a shite show
I’ll see my way out.
But before I go, I just want to let the OP know that he should stick to the Lake Side of Olde Metairie. Anything below I-10 is a dump

I drive down Willow every morning on the way to work. I can't believe what is going on in that area.

Agree ... but isn’t this thread about a recent grad?
