So he’s eligible immediately? The whole same conference/sitting out a year is only for football?

My hope is he continues to improve like he has every year in college. He'll be a 4 year player, with more than 80 games experience starting. He averaged 7 ppg his freshman year. 11 his sophomore. As a Jr he averaged 13.5 ppg. If he can raise that up again on what will be a squad with more talent around him than he is used to, then I really think he's gonna be a big part of the team next season. We need some way to make up for the points lost by losing Cam Thomas. Cam was one of the best to ever play at LSU. I know it was only one season, but to average 23 ppg as a true freshman is still ridiculous. Finding a way to get a proven scorer to make up for him leaving has to be a large part of Wade's thinking this offseason.

I don't know why you all are so offended over people calling out his efficiency numbers. They aren't good. Hopefully he improves on them. Better shot selection can help there. He shot 46% from inside the arc as a Sophomore, which isn't terrible.

his shooting percentages aren't good. Never said he wasnt good.
His value comes from his ability to draw fouls and make free throws.
It's ok to say you do not understand what makes a player good

I don’t see why we wouldn’t welcome this guy over a long list of mid major guys with a few more ppg against less competition
Time to bring Moussa Cisse home <3

Cam Thomas this season:
40.6% FG, 32.5% 3PT
Yes, but you see that extra 2.6% FG and 0.5% 3 pt. percentage is what separates "anyone" from a lottery pick.

That is because Cam Thomas is potentially a better NBA player. You can't argue that he was a better college player.

You should know by now the Rant only allows two kinds of opinions: (1) the guy is the greatest player in the history of the sport and now that he is a LSU Tiger will be an All American, or (2) he is absolutely horrible and has no worth as a human whatsoever. There is NO "in-between".
While he may not be a preseason All American candidate, he's a solid, proven SEC player with a ton of experience. LSU is losing ~95% of their production from this past season and was looking at a situation where they were going to have to turn to a lot of relatively inexperienced guys to make that up. Pinson is a guy that has shown in SEC play he can help do that. Is he going to put up Cam Thomas type numbers? Probably not. But for a team that was looking at a lot of "unknows" going into next season Pinson represents a known commodity to build with.

Davion shot 32% from 3 and 40% from the field the season prior to this one. He shot 28% from 3 his freshman year at Auburn. He also had the luxury of playing next to those other two all conference guards, 1 of which is also an NBA first rounder and elite playmaker, which tends to be a boost to efficiency. Mitchell was also 22 years old and Teague was 23 years old this season. Pinson will be 21 years old for this season. Now it's very unlikely Pinson becomes near the player Davion was but the point is development from year to year can be very substantial at this age as can be being placed in a system that more fits your style. To me it is unwise to write off Pinson as being a positive contributor next season.

So is this true or not?
In Pinson's case yes. As those are his numbers.

Davion Mitchell 51fg% 44 3pt% 14ppg 5ast
LMAO, let's list the guards from the national championship winning team and then cry when a transfer doesn't have comparable stats while playing at a far less superior team.
This is like saying everyone that ever played basketball sucks because Michael Jordan is better.

Well yea. One is 19yr old freshmen. The other is a 4th year player.
One gets 7 points off FT's alone, per game. Same guy is also a tweak or 2 away from being a really great overall scorer.
The other has not gotten better over 3 years of college.

Pinson hasn't gotten better?
Tell us more about how you have no idea what you are talking about. You really are one of the most miserable douches on this board.
