I just got the ego blower as well and I have to admit I love it. Battery will be plenty fine for my needs it seems after one use. What I’m curious about is the ego edger. I am certain the weed eater head would be good for my needs as well but I have a edger head for my gasser now. Will that battery really hold up edging thick at aug?

I have a 40v Greenworks, I trim over a ached it’s lots of fences, driveway and trees, takes at least an hour, can do it twice on a charge. Gave away my Echo trimmer, never using gas again.

Well after researching electric trimmers, I narrowed it down to the Milwaukee and EGO.

I decided on the Milwaukee b/c I am already invested heavily in their batteries and it came with the edger attachment long with the trimmer.

Online and youtube reviews all say the EGO has more power, but with the supplied batteries the Milwaukee has a little bit more run time.

Worst case, I'll go back to a stihl but I wanted to try the new cordless hotness.

I've got two of the Dewalt 20 volt models. They do good if you don't have woody weeds or let the grass get too far, adequate run time for our 1/2 acre lot trimming needs. Nowhere near the power of petrol machines.

Haha touché I’m an idiot. I’ve never had any battery powered lawn equipment so I just had a brain fart. Downvotes warranted.

My Stihl stopped working. It’s probably a carb issue, but I’m sick of carburetors.

I went and got an electric weedeater.
It’s amazing. I’m never going back to gas.

Did you have any issues with the trimmer head? I have read plenty of the reviews and that seems to be the biggest complaint. I would like the Milwaukee brand also because I have plenty of batteries. Also, how long have you been using it?

I am married to greenworks 60v now.

I have their:

Chainsaw.eta 18"bar....love it. Cuts thru anything i have put it on including a 24" oak in 5 sections wiht the 5a battery. I was surprised even though i researched plenty online before buying it.....$99 on special at lowes....tool only.

Weed eater.......does fine and will eat for 30 min on 2.5a amazingly i bought it in a combo with a charger, 4a battery and a blower for $250.

Blower......does fine for me.

I think my 10 yr old Stihl has seen better days. Has electric finally caught up to gas in the power department or should I just get another two stroke Stihl?

I have both and use both. But my primary tool is the 56 volt Ego. It's pretty sweet.

Same. No problems yet. 1 battery lets me weed eat my 1/2 acre and blow off the driveway and back patio. Haven't had a single problem yet.

Don't buy the milwaukee, this comes from someone with thousands in milwaukee M20 and M12 tools.

The string trimmer is shite. Burned up the motor twice in one I have, bought one for my dad and he's burned his up too.

You get what you pay for when it comes to weed eaters. Went do some work at a test facility a few years back. They had test cells that would put multiple units through the paces. Off -on -off or wide open throttle test. They would run them until they burnt up. The guy there told me if they lasted too long they would go back and put a cheaper part in until the got the desired longevity. The cheaper the unit the cheaper the parts. Same factory built chain saws also.

Switched from gas to Kobalt (Lowe's) 40v trimmer last summer and couldn't be happier with it. Battery powered tools have come a long, LONG way since I'd last tried them several year ago.

ETA: Kobalt's 24v stuff is made by the same company that makes EGO. the 40v and 80v stuff is made by Greenworks

ETA: that diagram is from here and is only for power tools

How long doe it take to charge the batteries back up to full strength? I am looking for an battery powered weed eater and I thought about buying a second battery, but they are expensive.

Yea the battery packs alone are stupid expensive. Probably cheaper to buy as a set and sell off the unit without battery and charger LOL.

Comes in on Wednesday, so I'll get back to you after the summer on whether it's a winner or loser. My house sits on about 1 acre so it'll get a good bit of use over the next few months.

Ego carbon shaft ONE PIECE shaft trimmer is great. The folding shaft is sub par, besides you can get the one piece shaft with a 5ah battery.
