No mention of The Ocean Club? From fall '86 to around spring '88 it was "The" X club in Metairie. I tended bar there and it's the closest thing I will ever know to being a rock star as far as having money, sex, and drugs just thrown at you.

I dated a bartender from the Goldmine. Her right thump was always blistered up and her finger nail was burnt from the flaming Dr. Peppers. Then BIC came out with the long lighters and it was a game changer.

Deja Vu and the Dungeon in the Quarter.

Got arrested outside the Golf Mine in the early 90’s. I remember. Flaming Dr. Peppers until we were blind. Get back to LSU somehow.

Five pages and no mention of the State Palace Theatre?

There was an old movie theater turned into a club in Shreveport called The Capri.
We would dance until they closed at 2 am and then go to a gay bar in an old house called The Clue till daylight.
Burned a lot of brain cells up back in those times

Has anyone mentioned the Wild Bar on Bourbon yet? That was the first French Quarter bar I ever snuck into

It’s pretty depressing that the New Orleans bar scene at present really sucks compared to the era described in this thread. I wish we could have one night a quarter where everything reverted back to this.

This thread brought back many foggy memories...
Nick's Bar on Tulane and in Metry. Shout out to Ronnie, Edgar, Koochie and the gang. I still get flashbacks when I hear the Gilligan's Island theme.
Saturday nights in the early 90's would start with darts tournaments at Buffa's, then a run though the Quarter and places like The Abbey, Molly's at the Market and pre dawn grab your ankles crawls at Checkpoint Charlie.
Also did Quarter crawls that started at Tropical Isle and ultimately found its way to The Dungeon.
If you were in Lakeview the next morning hurting from the night before, Homedale Inn was a great spot for a Bloody Mary pick me up. Especially when they were made by the late, great LSU fan legend Jeremiah Hynes. (RIP to him and Miss Margie.)
My favorite late night eats were The Beachcorner by the cemeteries and the long gone Bottom Line in Metry. (Still my favorite late night burgrs.)

Didn’t do much clubbing except for Friday night's Sippin’ into Sunset at the Hilton’s Rainforest on the river. Most of my other nights were spent at the Rendon Inn, the Rivershack shooting the shite with Jimmy and Rona, and in the early 80s at Pat Gillens where Nick made a stiff drink. Miss that place.
