JP Morgan/Chase

I posted this on the political board as well. Has anyone ever been cancelled by Chase. My 3 credit cards and checking account has been cancelled. No reasonable explanation. I suspect a purely political reason. Any experience from this learned board?

Have you tried calling and asking what’s up?

Chase cancels people all the time. It’s often for point manipulation, but plenty of other reasons. Spending not matching income, too many applications, too much credit extended (such as having too many credit card accounts), cycling credit limits (running it up to limit and paying it off multiple times in a month), manufacturing spending (groups or expense accounts being used to gain points) or brokering.
I have never heard of politics playing a role. They care about money for shareholders. That’s it.

I don’t know how to link the examples but there are several. Hey I’m not a right wing conspiracy theorist. The accounts i have with Chase don’t or shouldn’t cause any suspicion. No point brokering, always pay in full every month. I opened a Schwab account recently because I couldn’t buy penny stocks on Chase so maybe they don’t like competition. If you look for any political reasons you’ll find plenty. I’m at a loss honestly.
I’ve called and gotten boiler plate BS. I don’t care really as I don’t need Chase as I have a great local bank and opened a Schwab checking account with a Schwab credit card. It’s just strange Chase would cancel what should be a great customer.

Have YOU ever tried calling Chase for anything?
Life long Chase customer here (Bank One, etc etc), and every time I have to contact them by phone, I consider dropping them.
Chase is fine, as long as one does not have to contact them.

sounds like youre unprofittable
any business that has customers that either don’t make them any money, or even cost them money, aren’t very successful. it’s just a financial choice, and it’s the right one.

Agree with your business acumen. But you haven’t seen my brokerage accounts. Knowing what Chase knows makes this a very bad decision OR Chase is too big to know what the right hand is doing to the left or vice versa.

No way does chase cancel accounts because you pay on time. This is not something that commonly happens at all.

There seems to be a lot you are not telling us here. Banks don’t just cancel people out of the blue.

Even if you pay off the credit card every month, the card issuing bank still profits from merchant fees when you use the card. That’s how they can afford to offer all those cash back, rewards, air miles, etc

Go online and look. I don’t know what else you want to know except a copy of my financial statement. I have a credit score of 805. I have no explanation and am left to believe what?. Maybe more examples will be coming forward. I have no idea really. I had a Southwest Airlines rewards Card, A Freedom Cash Back Card, and a Marriott Bonvoy card. I probably charged $3-5,000 a month on those combined. Some months $15,000. My checking account dated to 1980 when it was known as LNB. There were several buyouts and it ended up Chase maybe 25-30 years ago. I had the same 4 digit PIN number for 41 years.
I guess if someone told me this story I’d have a hard time believing it too. It’s true and it happened. I’d just like to know if it has happened to anybody else.

Here you thinking you matter to Chase and you aren’t even a CPC account

If all true, I’d say it’s far more likely that you were the result of identify theft than that you were kicked for political reasons. I just haven’t heard any stories of that happening at individual levels. But I’ve heard plenty of horror stories of identify thieves completely fricking up someone’s finances.
But that’s just a pure guess based on having almost no info. The political targeting theory just doesn’t pass the smell test. Though I will add, the fact that your mind immediately went to that explanation does make me suspicious of the type of “political” positions you’ve espoused. That’s just a weird thing to be paranoid about. So if you’ve been pushing genuinely illegal, dangerous shite, who knows; I suppose they could theoretically kick you for that. But that’s certainly not anywhere near the most likely cause.

Yep that’s a possibility but my credit scores are fine and it’s a mystery. They want to keep the brokerage accounts and the loans. Brokerage accounts will leave. Guess they can’t call the loans unless i don’t pay. We’ll see. Not sure why the down votes but whatever. Just reporting what happened. Just asking if anyone has had a similar experience. I know of one. May have nothing to do with politics. There is just so much cancel culture going on it makes me wonder.

I have a chase cc with Amazon and have used it twice

With that history no way is that normal to get kicked out of the entire bank. Very odd
. Did they just cut you a check?
That being said if I have not got kicked for political reasons no way Univ would lmao

Yea, maybe I used it a few more times. I was just talking to my mother a few days ago and she said she had like 1000 points from using it. Every one of my bills is on auto payment so there is no reason not to. My credit score is 789 and it would increase if I used it a little more (I think). I would call them.
Not to get conspiracy here, but I heard about something Obama did called operation choke point. Haven’t looked it up yet, but basically if your company doesn’t go woke, banks will start to choke you out by not giving loans, etc. Maybe it never ended.
