It’s pretty clear where people stand when they dislike comparisons to other programs during PM’s time here. People don’t like to see the truth because they want to feel that all of their overreactions are justified.

Some in this thread but wasn’t speaking to that necessarily. You were trying to make a criticism of me in general. People get angry when I point out LSU’s success related to the other top programs in the country. I honestly don’t care what you want to label me. Against who? State played a much more difficult schedule and won. Competition matters. Their hitters force you to play defense. CPM is responsible for defense as a coach as he doesn’t delegate this to his staff. That’s why you see the tinkering. LSU has not been great defensively. The combination forcing the team to play defense and poor hitting will result in what we are witnessing this weekend.
It is like Ben said about Hill, he just doesn’t have the experience you would expect from a Jr as a Friday guy. That can be said about the sophomores on this team. When CPM took a stand with youth during the off-season last year, this was a gamble he knew he was making. Can the young guys handle SEC pitching.

I told my State friend that Friday. Not long ago it did not matter. You could throw a 1st round guy and we would knock him out eventually. I have seen it happen with 2 1st round guys back to back in the same game. More than once. Not anymore with this coach.
That said, State is the better team. Good luck to you guys. Go win the West and make us look not so bad.

Well everyone knows LSU has been average the last couple of years. We don't need to be told that. Everyone saw it when the team traveled to the Corvallis regional, or when they batted horrible in the non-conference portion of the schedule last season before it was shutdown. How many poor seasons does Paul get a pass? Maybe LSU gets hot this year in SEC play, if they dont will GoneFishing21 be back next season telling other fans, "just give the team time to make adjustments, you're not being realistic."

Let’s face it. One down year is too many for everyone here. The guy is 3rd all time in winning percentage behind Ray Tanner and Skip.

That’s not a quote of mine, but it ought to be common sense when you’re talking about a 15-5 team that’s just starting SEC play. One thing is for sure, if they struggle at any point in the season, hundreds of you will say on here the only answer is to fire the coach immediately.
