He needs to fight again in the next couple months
Him saying he needs a title shot is absurd
He needs to beat Colby, Burns or Jorge to even be considered
agreed.
Leon is a great talent. he just needs to get a couple more wins over legit contenders and he's in.

I think him vs Burns is a good fit.

Still waiting on the list of top 5 guys he kept saying no too That were not two week turn arounds
Turnaround time is irrelevant, if you're serious about making bank and fighting for a title, you take those fights.

why would Colby fight on short notice against someone who is lower in the rankings than him and someone who has already turned down fighting him TWICE?
Well apparently he turned down Colby on short notice as well

again ... Leon needs to start fighting legit contenders. not these borderline, top 15 fighters and other journeyman bums.
No excuse for saying no to a title fight
With his ranking there is about three dudes he should only be fighting

if Leon gets a win over the midget from tonight in their rematch (if said midget is able to recover from eye poke fast enough), and then gets a win over someone like Burns or Wonder Boy ... then he should be next for Usman.
but ideally the next fight should be Leon vs Colby ... that's a great match-up and Colby is really the only proven contender to challenge Usman. If Leon wins that fight then he's absolutely next without question.
the main problem however is the UFC is trying to force bum arse Masvidal into another Usman rematch ... and like why? ... Masvidal has 14 losses on his record for a reason. not to mention the fact that Usman already swept and mopped the floor with him.
it really cheapens the UFC's brand whenever they force some of these guys into undeserving title shots just because they're popular on social media.

No one really stands a chance vs Usman now he trains with Trevor Whitman
The good fights at 170 are for the dudes who trying to get the chance to fight Usman

Usman vs Covington in December 2019 was outstanding and needs to be ran back.
the judges scorecards had it a draw going into the final round (3-1 Covington, 2-2, 3-1 Usman) ... there was some questionable calls during that fight, but overall it was the fight of the year.

Usman vs Covington might be the best title fight ever, it was spectacular to watch

it was electric
the entire build up to that fight was the best story the UFC has had in years. the fight itself also didn't disappoint with both fighters who were known as first-class wrestlers going out there and throwing hands. they absolutely gotta run it back.

well i listened to you guys and did not bet on belal. just caught fight on demand. I see what yall mean ab edwards. power/speed... he's legit. hope he gets his shot.... but...
DC and Bisping, save me the "oh poor Leon" routine. if you're warned for an eye poke and then go right back out and do it again, severely injuring your opponent, I don't agree with the no contest.
If Yan can lose a title on what amounted to a brain fart moment, then Leon, after being warned, should have been DQ'd for the eye poke.
And holy shite what an eye poke. Belal is one tough motherfricker and to hear him afterwards.. that was tough to hear. hope it's just a minor scratch with no long term damage.

One thing is abundantly clear and that is no one knows the rules for fight ending illegal shots

Yea 2 weeks in a row the announcers were in disagreement. I didn't realize the round mattered, like they seemed to indicate during the first no contest last night

Yeah the fact that he had been warned should come into play. He also kept his fingers out a lot, i rewatched it when I got home.
Another head scratcher for me was when poirier fought Alvarez and he knees him in the head twice while he was down. That was a no contest also.

Dude was jabbing with his fingers extended. He looked good otherwise, but, that was some bitch shite he was doing repeatedly.

It really shouldn’t. You’re normally one of the better MMA posters but you’re off on this one. Didn’t you say a while back that you recently started training BJJ? You’ve never accidentally elbowed one of your training partners then done it again in the same round without even realizing it as it was happening?
I’m not sure how anyone who’s spent any meaningful amount of time on the mats, even if you’ve never done striking, can argue that anything can be done about that unfortunate situation except change the gloves. The “poor Leon” mindset from DC was because DC’s been there and understands that when 2 guys are going 1000 miles an hour and trying to stay loose and relaxed, things like that happen, and it just happened to happen twice in a few minutes.

Well yeah dude he was very relaxed? It would’ve been a problem if his fists and teeth were clenched like his life depended on it

Not sure how much truth there is to this but I've heard the palms & gloves in general are very stiff and you see the open fingers a lot cause fighters don't want to wear out their grip strength striking
