I thought it would be a good thread to start.just a place to discuss future opponents and how we matchup.
In general,a place to discuss the sec tournament without having to go to the sec rant board.

What is the boards thought on having to play ole miss again? We beat them pretty bad in the two games we played them.
The only negative is,they are the only team in the conference that's on the bubble.I'm pretty sure they will be playing as hard as possible. They have more on the line then any other team in this tournament.

Eta: I'll go out on a limb and say,if ole miss beats us ,they are in the ncaa tournament .before the game against South Carolina yesterday, joe lunardi had them the 3rd team out and a lot of bubble teams lost yesterday.

ETA again: for some reason I thought we played them twice. We beat them once ,bad.

Actually we only played them once. I think we threw a new wrinkle at them with that half-court trap we hadn't really used much and they weren't ready.

I don't think that will be near as effective this time around and I expect a better effort from the Rebs tonight. We need to come out with energy and effort early.

You are correct. I wonder why I thought that. I even looked it up ,I thought. Oh well, we must have beat someone else twice?

We were supposed to play them when the south got covered with ice resulting in a cancellation.

We were supposed to play them a second time as a fill in but that game was cancelled.

If someone already started a thread for the tournament, my bad. I didnt see one .
I found It hard to believe that nobody started a thread about one of the bigger events lsu plays in . Plus the potential matchups make it a needed thread, imo.

Ole Miss has a lot to play for, but so do we.

They provide a high Quad 2 opportunity (Ole Miss NET only moved one spot to a 52 after yesterday's win. It needed to be 50 or less for a quad 1 neutral site.). Whereas, South Carolina would have been a Quad 3 game for LSU.

We will need to have new wrinkles to counter the Ole Miss adjusted game plan, but I think Wade has a good idea of their philosophy and players. I hope that if we play with focus and intensity, we should be able to win the first SEC tournament game in Wade's tenure.

Well I just heard something that's slightly disturbing. They have won 8 of the last 10 .they were up 16 on usc last night with 12 mins left in second half.

For those that are casual basketball fans or just casually pay attention to other teams in the conference. Dont expect a blowout,we are playing a good team that will have to beat us to get in the ncaa tourney

LSU 84
Black rebel bears 78

Nothing is certain with this team but in the Wade tenure LSU has had maybe no better matchup than Ole Miss. Wade is 4-0 vs. Davis and only one of those games has been remotely close (LSU has won my double-digits in 3 of the 4, including this year). I think I you asked Wade off the record which of the SEC's potential NCAAT teams he would want to play if he could choose Ole Miss would likely be at the top of the list.

That said, if yesterday showed us anything it is that the difference between the good teams and not so good teams in the league isn't that great. Florida and Mizzou struggled to hold off Vandy and UGA. Mississippi St. took out Kentucky (at team that had the potential to put up a great performance). Plus, I think there is a slight advantage for a team who has played one game on a neutral site court over a team playing their first game because the team playing their second game has adjusted a bit more to the sightlines of shooting on an unfamiliar court.

MSU winning helped LSU. Unfortunately, it wasn't as much as I hoped. They were 78 in the NET going into the game. They only moved up one spot after the win. MSU getting to 75 would be huge as it would be another Q1 win for LSU. State isn't going to beat Alabama today, but maybe there will be enough carnage around the country to push State up a spot or two even with the loss.

UF losing to Vandy would have been HUGE for LSU since Florida is one of the group of teams all fighting for the 7 seeds. Hopefully Tennessee takes them out today (though I'm not confident in that).

With Missouri winning yesterday LSU is guaranteed a Q1 game tomorrow should they beat Ole Miss tonight.

Just show your boss the current NET rankings that show LSU ahead of FU. I love it when they lose.

I am a bit worried that Ole miss is playing a different offensive game since the first time we met them.

Romello white getting much more involved in the post on offensive opens up better shots for the role players.
