Paul Mainieri is one of the main reasons Hampton is leaving LSU

What kind of shitty arse roster management is this?

quote:

"I was caught off guard by his decision today," Mainieri said, "but I can’t say I was totally surprised."

quote:

Mainieri said Hampton told him in December he intended not to play football anymore. Mainieri cautioned him about only playing baseball because he was behind his teammates in his development after splitting his time with two sports, and LSU had a crowded outfield this season.

"I told him if he was going to put all his eggs in one basket with baseball, I didn’t know how that was going to work out for him because he was so far behind so many guys in our program," Mainieri said. "His opportunity was going to be so far away. He was going to have to be patient in waiting for that opportunity."

So where would you start Hampton on this baseball team? Anxious to get a non shitty arse opinion from an expert.

So what’s the problem? Sounds like he tried to be up front with Hampton so he knew where he stood and could make a better decision.

I think he could’ve gotten opportunities over Sanford and Bianco in CF. Also, could’ve put Dugas to 2nd, Drost in LF and Hampton in CF or vice versa. There’s things that could’ve been done. But being mad at Paul and wanting him fired for it is just ridiculous

I honestly don’t see anything wrong with what he said outside him releasing that conversation to the media. Nothing wrong with being brutally honest to a kid who probably needs to hear it before making a decision

He basically told the kid he didn’t have a place at LSU on the baseball team...a first round MLB talent. It’s so absurdly stupid.

None of that is confidential and especially isn’t when he’s leaving the program. If he were asked that question and didn’t give Wilson an answer, what do you think the optics could’ve been on that?

As much as I think CPM should be GONE, he seemed to be honest with Hampton! He should have picked a sport and stuck with it in my opinion. Best of luck to him!

I'm not a huge PM fan, but how in the world is this his fault?

I forgot about Mo’s injury last year. I put this in the other thread that he was batting 0.291 in just 6 starts before that Texas game where he got hurt. I wonder what he could have done had covid not happened.

Pauls opinion was apparently that he stick with both. He advised against quitting football when Mo said he would.

Mo (and his dad) turned down 1.8 million from the MLB. That is first round money yes.
