I think it’d be fun to try and guess which of your finds are the home runs.

One of the best buys I've had on cast iron was 8 pieces for $125.00. I got a Griswold #10 skillet, with the large block logo. Two #8 Griswold large block logo. A #4 Lodge with matched lid. And a Wagner #10 chicken fryer with lid. The other three pieces were common #5 and #3 skillets. The Griswold #10 alone brought over $300. I kept the #4 because you just don't find them often, and the chicken fryer, which I use regularly.

I know you’ve said it before but is there a specific website you use to locate which estate or garage sales you want to hit up? Do you use Facebook or online newspapers

Looking for some guidance. Will likely be selling off some a parent's stuff soon (it's in storage right now). A lot of furniture and some nice pieces. Any recs on people/businesses in the BR area to call to see if interested in buying outright, or possible consignment?

Good stuff. Nothing like a quick flip at an estate sale or garage sale in the summer. Flipped a Yeti Hopper 30 last year. Paid $15. Sold for $250 in 25 minutes.

Griswold looks good. I have quite a few pieces that were inherited that we restored and use daily. What do you use to estimate their resell value?

eBay (sold items) is the best price guide ever made. It is real time, and it shows exactly what an item sold for.
For example:
The Griswold found today, it has sold for anywhere between $180-$220.

When I lived in Annapolis, Md I knew these two old gay antique dealers who made a fortune going to estate sales in Alabama and Mississippi and buying mostly vintage furniture at ridiculously low prices and sell it to rich Yankee tourists for just crazy high prices at their shop. They were the ones that turned me on to that great book, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Jim Williams was just a souped-up version of these old dudes.

I know furniture, but it is more of a business, not a hobby. It takes a lot of work to turn stuff like that. There is great money in it, but it is a full time job. Stuff like that is what I will do when I retire in 15 years.

Your best bet is an estate sale. You can go at it yourself, price it, etc, or go with an estate sale company thats going to take at least 33%, but do all the work and bring the customers.
An estate sale put on by the family is my favorite sale, because they go at it hard for a few days, then just start pricing stuff cheap because they are tired of pricing.
If you do it yourself, do it 100% or hire a company.

No way in hell would I put skin cream from a garage sale or eBay not knowing how old it is or what weather conditions it was kept in on my skin.

Ahhh. That makes sense. eBay had to be a game changer

Did you do this before ebay was around?

That skincare brand has an $800 finishing powder. That is wild. I could win the lottery, and I’d still never be in the market for $800 finishing powder. LINK

Jesus. And whatever this is for $1,600. Why not just get fillers or Botox at that point? LINK

You really did get a deal for those products, apparently.
