Thoughts or opinions? I ordered it off the recommendation of a trusted friend.

You'll need to buy 75 or 77 grain ammo due to the 1:7 twist barrel. Nice pick up on the firearm. What optic are you going to put on it? What other accessories are you also looking to add to it?

No plans for optics or accessories before putting two or three hundred rounds through it. With the market being what it is, I figured I could sell it if I don't care for it. Any suggestions if I like it?

Unless I’m reading it wrong, looks like it comes with a vortex red dot and back up irons. You’re good on the optics unless you’re the ultimate hardcore operator.

Put a good light on it and you’re good to go.

Streamlight protac 2 should suffice.

That EPT Upgraded trigger is a very good trigger set. Myself and a work buddy ordered almost identical PSA built uppers and lowers a couple years back. His lower had the EPT trigger and mine had a standard mil-spec. When I shot his, I noticed a big difference in the smoothness of the trigger pull. I eventually swapped mine out for a CMC drop in with 3.5lb pull and a flat face and love it. The PSA kits are great kits and that one comes with EVERYTHING you need to get started - just need a stripped lower of your choosing. Mine even came with the 1st Gen Vortex Sparc and it's a great starter red-dot.

yeah whatever. He's not using a pistol kit to shoot groups at 500 yards. Shoot whatever you find cheap and enjoy

Anything, his information is inaccurate.

Bear in mind if you've never shot an AR, shooting a round designed for a 20" barrel out of a 10" barrel isn't exactly user friendly.

I've shot them, just haven't built one. I have a colt AR-10 .308 with a leupold scope. I'm just wanting something smaller and lighter. One of the LTs on my dept has a PSA that felt like what I'm looking for, so I'm giving them a shot. My asst chief recommended Davidson Defense for the lower. Thoughts?

If you're just asking about PSA in general I've never had any issues with any of their stuff, and they're one of if not they most popular non-big-name brands in the AR world. I'd get the lower from PSA as well, only because I don't know anything about Davidson Defense. As long as they're done by a decent company a lower is a lower.

So $1k and you need a lower?? Why not just buy a complete rifle/pistol carbine?

I ordered it happy with the upgraded optics, and I wanted a build kit. The lower only cost $145. Not much difference.

Damn. The last PSA lower I bought was right before the 2016 election and it was either $39 or $49.

Aero sells their m4e1 lowers for under $100. They're available every couple weeks, just sign up for their email notifications. They normally have a 10% off coupon for new customers
