First fishing weekend in a while for me
Grand isle
Saturday we launched at 6:30am and couldn’t go anywhere hardly until like 9 because the fog was so thick.
Water around the island was gorgeous. But only found redfish. Went north in search of trout. Ended up finding 22. Was a lot of fun.
Man I’m ready for more warm weather

Possibly the worst three days of spring fishing in my life. Both lakes I went to looked dead. Caught a few bass and pickerel. Got zero white perch bites.

was wondering why we haven't had a weekend results posted lately...
I haven't been out since the holidays due to work and family but ready to get out late this week...
some friends down at the camp tore the trout up early this morning at Lake Catherine...wind got up and messed it up by a lil after 10am was the word...
thanks for posting Geaux23...

Shitcanned it because of muddy water and gale force winds. Looked like white water rapids yesterday afternoon between the rocks.

I’ll start hitting your side of the state next month (April). Have you had a chance to make a trip since the ice storm and any word on a fish kill in that area? Any luck? Haven’t been on TD that much lately and was curious. I know you took a lot of damage from the storms last year and hope y’all have been doing ok.

Ditch at hog island had plenty reds on the bank, all keepers. I saw no dead trout yesterday.

Found 4 trout today in my yak down in PAC. Lost a couple reds at the boat. Wind was absolutely brutal today. Especially in kayak. I knew it’d be bad ahead of time though, just wanted to get on the water.

That’s good to hear, Kemo.
I know after that decent trip Billy and I had late March last year that marine biologist gal was measuring and taking samples of our fish. We caught some hogs on that trip. She was saying she hadn’t seen many catches with the size we had that trip and she believed that the trout were still lagging from all the freezes yall had in 2017 on that side of state.
Billy and I talked after she left and he didn’t think the freezes from 2017 were the main culprit for the drop off in the quantity of quality specks in SWLA.
Unfortunately I never fished y’all’s area in its hay day. Always remember seeing pictures of the stringers full of specks that were 4 pounds and over back in the late 80s, early 90s. One article in particular I remember the smallest speck on the stringer was right at 4 pounds.
My brothers and I have been talking about getting rid of our place in Grand Isle and possibly moving closer to Venice but my younger brother wants something on Big Lake. He still lives about 25 miles north of LC. I will say last year I had some of the best inshore fishing I’ve had in about 6 years and it was in SWLA. We like to run off shore a good bit too though but SWLA doesn’t seem to have the coastal marinas or setup to make quick runs offshore like we can in SELA and that would be the only thing that would keep us from buying something on that side.

We were still catching numbers of 5+ trout in 08, I killed plenty of them and then wised up when I started wading.

Worst I’ve been in in yrs, lil bastards were laughing at amber romance

Someone was telling me it was because it was cold then warm up so quickly but not sure if that’s true

Did some work on the boat and around the camp in Shell Beach; da g-nats were bitin' but I think fair many trout were likely caught if you could stand them. Perfect time of year for topwaters
