If East Baton Rouge was located in other states, this is how it would rank among all other cities.
Only 7th in Texas if East Baton Rouge were located there. Far behind the GDP of Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, etc.

Baton Rouge pales in comparison to the massive cities of Houston and Dallas?
Next you'll tell me the Earth is round.

All of those cities have 1M+ people. EBR has 450k.

East Baton Rouge has about 450,000 people and is blessed with a lot of high paying industrial and manufacturing jobs.
Not surprised it would rank as the highest or near highest GDP in so many states. It's even beating out Orleans Parish, but that's not a surprise given that EBR is larger.

We rank higher than I realized. Is this due to O&G?

So, EBR is better than people on here make it out to be. Who would have thought!

I came off pretty impressed by it. It would be by far the largest city in terms of GDP if it were located in a lot of other states.
It has the highest GDP in Louisiana according to that map.

Is this ranking EBR Parish vs. counties in those states or just cities?

Well there is this refinery sitting in the parish that used to be one of the 5 largest refineries, #13 now, in the world and also has a network of chemical plants that also sit in the parish, but we are working real hard locally on dwindling that refinery and Exxon in general down to nothing.
