Does anyone live in the Lexington KY area ? Got a job offer and trying to decide. It is similar in pay and benefits and I am getting sick of hurricanes.

Looks like a decent small city with lots of hiking trails and decent sports (UK).

We are a football school now. But yes, Lexington is a decent town, lots of good surrounding communities with lots of outdoor options. Not too far from several state parks with good hiking as well.

We don't get hurricanes, but tornado's are an option.

I have never been there, but my coworkers who live there love it. It’s an SECCollege town so it can’t be all bad. And then there’s bourbon...

It’s a great town. Tons of outdoor stuff to do nearby.

Yeah, Lexington is one of my favorite SEC cities. Perfect size with lots to do in the area. I'd jump at a good opportunity to move there.

350? Seriously?

If serious, that will get you a lot of house in Central Kentucky. You might want to consider a new build.

I live in a small community outside of Lexington, about 20 miles away, so others might chime in on neighborhoods within walking distance to a bunch of food/entertainment.

There are a couple of nice areas within walking distance of downtown and the distillery district, and not far from Rupp Arena as well.

Most neighborhoods outside the beltway have local restaurants and shopping close by.

You can get a nice place within your budget in most areas of Lexington.

Love that city. My buddy I played ball with in college lived there a few years(He was the head baseball coach at Georgetown) He lived in a neighborhood called Masterson Station that seemed like a good location. You will love Keeneland in the spring and fall!

Not bad. Not far from town, but not walking distance either. Many neighborhoods fit that description. The nice thing about Lexington is you aren't more than 20 minutes from another other part of town.

Drive past Keeneland all the time. It's a zoo in non pandemic years.

We are just coming out of this winter storm that swept the country. We were below freezing for almost 3 weeks straight. We got about an inch of ice, 5 inches of snow, another 1/2 of ice, and another 3 inches of snow in about 4 days. It's still melting.

Most years we have a 2-3 snows of a couple of inches, and maybe one that is more. Have had a few 12 inch plus snows, but not that often.

I used to date a girl that grew up/parents live in the Chevy Chase neighborhood. Nice area.

She lived in a townhome/brownstone by Transylvania. That's probably not what you're looking for, but it was a really cool area. The architecture almost reminded me of Boston or the New England area.

Yes,that is one of the areas I was talking about earlier. Transy is walking distance to downtown, and all of the things there. It's got some really nice areas. We have friends that live in the historic district on 2nd street and they walk to restaurants every night.

That area went from sounding spooky to sounding yucky in a mere generation.

Louisville here but around Lexington a bit. Only winter weather you have to deal with is the occasional snow/ice storm (and even then we only get “big” ones every few years).

If you’re into hiking, there’s a ton of places throughout Kentucky within a short drive. We also like to take day/weekend trips up to Cinci, particularly for Reds games, Oktoberfest (they do it big with their German heritage), and the occasional Bengals game depending on who else is in town.

Right around Transy is nice, but a block or two on either side is sketchy and downright scary.

It's odd, there are nice areas backing up to not nice areas almost on the same street.
