Great country vibe, good people and smallish town. Never lived but very nice. Lived in Cincinnati and traveled for work, seemed nice. That's all I got, best of luck on the job offer.

I live here and have lived here my entire life, went to UK. Etc. Whatever you need to know about the city, I'm your huckleberry.
$350 can get you into solid neighborhoods here. Plenty of options for you in that range. Lexington isn't super hard to get around, so location here is really only a big consideration as far as schools are concerned. There are a few parts you don't want to live in ie Georgetown Rd, Winburn area, parts of downtown North of Main though thats being somewhat gentrification by hipsters.
I'll keep this thread open in a separate tab, feel free to AMA. Love my city and plan on being buried here when it's all said and done. This is home.

Lexington is awesome. I grew up here and have been all over, but there is honestly no place i’d prefer to live and raise my family.
I live just off of man o war and work downtown. 20 minute commute. Pretty much that would be max commute to anywhere in town, assuming you live in the city limits.
Take the job. And then go to the Red River Gorge if you like hiking.

Wow, thanks! Really just looking for areas to focus on, will probably rent for a while until I figure out what I like.
In the non-covid times are there festivals, music, etc?
Looks like a decent parks system??
I have visited several times but it was Kentucky Horse Park and/or Keeneland focused so don’t know much about the actual town

I would be working from home, so traffic isn’t an issue but i’ve heard the traffic is terrible.... but it can’t be any worse than BR can it!?

Yes, plenty of concerts in areas, Thursday Night Live downtown.

Several parks in the Lexington area, lots of rural countryside outside a few miles, and Kentucky has great state parks. As mentioned, Natural Bridge/Red River Gorge is tremendous hiking, about 1.5 hours from Lexington.

Not even close. It can be frustrating but its not bad.
In non covid times theres plenty of cool stuff to do. The distillery district has been revitalized recently, has some good eats and a couple breweries/distillery in the area. The Kentucky Native cafe is an awesome biergarden when the weather is good. They even make their own radler. Lots of outdoorsey stuff and for its size, lexington is a pretty good foodie town

Yes, it can be. For as small of a town as Lexington is, the traffic is terrible almost all day long.
I work from home now and wouldn't commute back into and out of Lexington for a raise.
Hamburg and Nicholasville Road are insanely busy all the time.

Fayette county is 0.89%. Some surrounding counties are quite a bit lower if you want to live out from Lexington a bit.

I know when UGA used to play UK on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in October every year it was every Dawg fan's favorite road trip because the racing season at Keenland was in full swing then. Bet on the ponies on Friday and go to the game on Saturday. Now they don't play until November. Bummer.

Does anyone live in the Lexington KY area ? Got a job offer and trying to decide.
If you are one of the top candidates at your position but routinely do not meet expectations, you'll do great there.
ETA: That was a little Coach Cal shade.

I’ve been saying this too
OP, if I ever moved I’d probably look at going back to
KY and probably Lexington. But I’m one of those weird horse girls

If its a night game, nothin better than the Bluegrass Double- Tailgating for Keeneland and go to the meet saturday morning, then take a shuttle down to commonwealth for more tailgating/the game. So much fun

Beaumont area is nice, close to Keeneland. Some good spots in Masterson. Hartland. Hamburg area is a suburban sprawl of a mess but alot out there.
Is look on the South/Southwest end of town, Tates Creek out past Man O War, or Hamburg if you want to rent and be in good spots.
Moontower Music Festival, Terrapin, Icthus, Thursday Night Live, all manner of bars with live bands, I believe they still do the jazz concerts series at Ecton, Moondance Amphitheater, Lakeside Live, etc etc.
