Have you ever lived up north? It's in the hills. You're going to get lots of snow and ice.

Ummm, no!

From Greenville, SC. But went to UK and met my wife there and lived there for several years post grad. It’s an awesome place that I really loved living. I try to visit a few times a year and would consider moving back one day.

The only downside to Lex is it feels like the winter time is eternally gray and overcast constantly. This was one of the driving factors to me moving, lol.

Winters are gray. January and most of February can go weeks without sunshine. Just part of the Ohio River Valley experience. Like previously posted, snow and ice do happen but is rarely more than a few inches. They are pretty good with clearing roads during those times. Summer will be just as hot but will be a lot shorter. A few weeks in summer and winter suck but the rest of the year is pretty awesome. If you are prone to allergies, this area seems to be pretty hard on you for a couple months out of the year.

Nope. You can find a bunch of houses to rent in great neighborhoods. I live in the Southland Area and it is becoming the next Chevy Chase.

Like everyone says, Lexington is an awesome city to live in.
I've got no qualms with the Southland area, wasn't trying to sleight you by any means. Those areas are the typical "nice areas" but what individuals look for in where they live always differ.
Just not as much house for the price because it's a great location. Of course, having easy access to Winchell's and Mariakkas is well worth it.

Here OP: Don't rent in Eastland, Georgetown Rd, Winburn/Russell Cave, Tates Creek around Centre Parkway, Cardinal Valley, and parts of downtown particularly north of Main.

I think that covers it boys lol.

It can get hot and humid as frick here in the summer. Kentucky weather is pretty much the same as Tennessee.

Yall act like moving here is akin to moving to the fricking Yukon. There was ice and snow last week. This week its been in the 60s.

If you're someone who wants 4 seasons, there aren't many places better in that winter doesnt last long and generally it just gets cold and not much snow. Its a nice break for a bit, but after New Years, bring on spring and baseball

East End and Oldham County are great places to be. We have a dipshit governor right now and the city is recovering from the riots last summer but all in all, pretty cool town. If you have school aged kids and don’t want to pay for private school, go to oldham county.

Louisville is trendy and hip but has a lot more big city problems then lexington. Wokeness, crime, taxes, higher housing prices, etc. I'd rather visit louisville than live there.

The people saying its too cold are wrong. The winters since I've been here are relatively mild. The summers are a hell of a lot better than louisiana. The temp might hit mid 90s in the dog days of summer but it's only in the hottest parts of the day and it's not for very long. Way better than south LA where the heat index is 104 for all of July and August. I remember packing up the moving truck in nola in June when it was miserable by 0830am. I do not miss that. Fall in KY is actually a season and it's glorious, not two weeks in October.

Winters typically aren't too bad here. Once every 5 years we will get a 8" dump of snow, typically get a few inches spread out over 3 months. One ice storm a year.

Winter really lasts from mid December thru early March.

Summers don't get to 100 at least not temps, will get into the mid 90's. But that's what swimming pools are for.
