Does anyone on the board have any experience with selling a car on Vroom, givemethevin, etc.? Looking for advice, things to watch for, things you wish you would have known...
I don’t have to sell but it seems that covid-19 work from home life is here to stay and I’m looking to offload a car note/insurance payment.
Thanks all!

I’ve sold a car to Carvana. Had offers from GiveMeTheVIN and Carmax. Carvana was much higher on their offer.
Super efficient process. I drove the vehicle over there, signed over the title, and they direct deposited the money and that was that.

I've sold one to GIVEMETHEVIN and one to Vroom/Texas Direct Auto.
The guy that owns/runs give me the vin used to run Texas Direct Auto (hes out of Dallas).
GiveMeTheVin lowballed me hard initially, I countered, they countered and we agreed on a price. They sent me some paperwork to sign via email, showed up like two days later, drove it around the block and give me a check and I gave them the title.
Vroom/Texas Direct Auto gave me a much better offer on my other vehicle and was much less hassle. Although, that was years ago and I have some people in the car business in Houston that say stay away from that place. But $$ is $$.
If you have the patience and time, sell private party. You'll get more money. You just have to deal with the idiots who are just out to waste time.

I sold my 2013 Chevy extended cab to carvana, they offered me more than any local dealer or private party in my area, had it heavily advertised for a couple of weeks before I sold it. They came and picked it up with little to no inspection and handed me a check, highly recommend .

Bought a car from Vroom in December. It was very easy to do and I am satisfied with the company and their service.

If you go through the process (vroom) and get the initial offer, wait 5 days without responding and they'll send you a 'good news, your offer went up' email, adding $500 to the price.

Sold my 2015 bmw 328i medium shape for 12k to shift. Dealership offered 10k trade in. It was a pretty quick and efficient experience.
They dock you if you have old tires. It’s cheaper to get new tires so you don’t get the deductions

I did Vroom. Got a good offer for my trade in, I was practically able to trade in my old car for my new one straight up without having to owe anything. Delivery of my new vehicle took a few weeks, so if you are in a hurry, I would just go to a dealer. But if you can be patient, Vroom is good.

frick them. Their offers are for shite. Might as well trade it in. That was my experience anyway.

How did they dock you? Did they change their offer after they took possession of the vehicle?
That’s my main concern: they’ll have possession of my car, they’ll pay my bank and gain title then they lowball me (I have positive equity in the vehicle).

They docked me before I took the offer. Docked came down to 12k from ~12.5 due to tires and only one key plus other conditioning issues. Once they possess the car only think they can dock you is if there is structural damage. If they see any damage they will either return the car or give you an updated offer.

I sold to Carvana. Super simple. They offered me $5000 more than anyone else.

Sold to givemethe vin. I didn't like their offer at first and told them what I wanted. They upped it within a day and came to the house with a truck and a check. Was a Jeep Wrangler so I'm sure what you're selling will make a difference in price. Very good experience though.

This. We went to Carmax first and got their offer then to GMTV. Their offer was lower than Carmax so I asked for my $100 (their marketing gimmick). He countered with an offer $150 above Carmax
It was easy to get a couple of offers including from the dealership and didn't have to deal with selling it myself. Both Carmax and GMTV offers were
